Oil leak to tranny problem?
I just bought this 91 CRX SI... and it's had a very very slow oil leak .. so I finally get it up in the air and take a look....

Car sits this high.. so it's not from bottoming out... I don't know what to think.

I want to swap it but I dont have the fundage for a b series swap right now...

its intresting to me because this happened to me like 3 weeks ago. i noticed an oil leak, i thought it was fromthe engine, but it was from the oil seals of the tranny. that fooled me completly.well, if ur engine oil level is not going down then thats not it. i would try the oil seals first. there just $5 at autozone. hope this helped
dam man. ur gonna have to replace the engine oil seal. its not that hard. ive seen my brother done it in a whole day, and hes a noob to this.lowering the tranny ect..... but then again, thats assuming its from that seal.sorry tohear that.

you prolly have a gasket leak on your oil pan since right around that area is where leaks are most frequent and by the crank pulley. either that or your oil pan is bent. that sux
Uh guys, thats not his oil pan. Thats definatly the sheild that goes over the transmission. I know because I lost mine during my swap.
Is the clutch slipping under load (aka flooring it in first gear or something). If so, its probably your rear main. If not, follow the oil path and you'll find the source
. I know how hard it is, it can be tricky ****.
My headgasket leaks a little oil on the exhaust side, near the transmission (check for that, its common). Other common causes are distributer, valve cover, and oil pan.

yup i agree with that rear main seal.. Plus check for other leaks near the distributor... or leaks coming from the oil filter or the pressure sending unit..All that should be checked before just pulling out the tranny and finding out that thats not the problem.. Trust me know from experience..
Im working 12-14 hour shifts a day... so my only time to check is on weekends...Ill check this weekend and take pics for you guys... Until then I guess Ill drive my GSR.. (even tho the CRX is more fun to drive) lol

If you are talking about the black shield that covers the flywheel, you are wrong about it leaking. That shield has no gasket and has a groove on the middle of it,so that piece is not made to hold any fluid. My guess it is to let the transmission get some air.
I have this same problem.

i know im just messing around. every body here knows that if you feed a honda oil it will keep running forever
my 88si i would check the oil when i filled the tank. and usually i had to add a quart.
i love honda engines

I concur.
Not hard to change if the tranny isn't attached to the engine!
The rear main is the seal surrounding the crank behind the flywheel.
