Default PROJECT TIME

So I saved an EF from damnation yesterday...picked it up for $500. Its a fairly clean '88 sedan (VERY minor dings, a "flat spot" in the roof that I'm not sure how I'm gonna get fixed), never been in an accident, 253K on the clock and its a 5-spd. The best part IT STILL RUNS FINE!!! So as of now its going to be my daily beater but I figure I can make a little sleeper outta this thing too. Any ideas/suggestions? I'm leaning towards a SOHC ZC turbo or maybe just a straight b16 swap, not quite sure yet.......I have ZERO experience with sedans, and haven't owned an EF since 1995. I'll post pics up in a bit when I get home from work. A part of me says don't touch it and just drive it till its done, but my love for the old-skool wants to clean her up and turn her out.

id say go sohc turbo.. it will be cheaper then a b16 and most likley faster...and if the motor blows there only like what 500 bucks or so? just go to your local junk yard and see if they have any eclipse and get the turbo, injectors, side mount (be a real sleeper) you can make a decent car for pretty cheap.

pics as promised...

not bad for $500 in running condition.
the interior sucks but who the hell cares about interior anyways??
and yeah i'm still itching to go SOHC turbo....might just try and snag a d16 somewhere...unless i can find a ZC engine before that.

welp, started today by removing the front/rear bumpers and moldings.....they are being mildly sanded and resprayed with trim paint. pics will be up after they are back on.

also started thinking that MR5's would probably be my best bet for the "old skool" look i want and maybe an extra set of the panasport replicas

What do you mean by "flatspot on the roof"?

it has like a weak spot in the roof...the metal seems flimsy and wobbles up and down....i can pop it out from inside, but it can just as easily be pressed back down from the outside......it diesn't look bad now that i have "popped" it back out

i too was also thinking about a roof rack to somewhat "hide" it so we'll see if i get around to that.....as for painting the bumpers....NAH!!!! keeping it OG DX status....i MIGHT have earl scheib respray the car the original creme color if i can find some front fenders and a hood (all of mine have little dings here n' there.)....but the bumpers and moldings will stay black.

within the next week or 2 i should have a set of Konig Rewinds on there (in silver)....and i already scored a set of black HX's, just need to get some tires on'em

then comes saving for that b16 swap...i ditched the whole idea of staying sohc

welp, i sourced out a d16z6 for now...got it for $200. gonna run it with my DX tranny for now, just to add reliability for my daily driving purposes until the funds free up for the b16 swap. i rewired the bumper lights today and repainted the HX rims white for now....still waiting to pick up tires for them so I can have a few wheel options sitting around to suit my moods. next up is some coilovers to dump this bitch, and some silver Konig Rewinds.

pics are STILL lagging...my digi broke so i need to pick up another one. i'll for SURE find a way to get some up here when i get her dumped on some wheels
