where was that one link that showed how you can tell if an ecu is obd1/5spd

buying a p72

the middle three digits will say p72 if it is a p72, and the second to last digit will be a 0 if it's a 5-speed, and a 5 if it's an auto

no disrespect but i wouldnt trust the label code
the seller could have swapped ecu cases
at the same time an auto ecu can be converted to manual and vice versa
best way to check is to open the ecu itself and check for the auto lock tranny transistors

if the ecu has been worked on (converted) check to make sure RP18 (located just under the 29c256 socket area, or in the pic, bottom right corner) has a jumper wire in it or a "resistor type" package with a black line across it. as alot of ppl will get auto ecu;s and convert then to manual without removing the transitors due to laziness.
