What is the dumbest thing you’ve ever done on a bike?
As the title states What is the dumbest thing you’ve ever done on a bike? I know some of you have never even sat on a bike with out full gear and have never done a single dumb thing on your bike. Good Job
I guess this threads not for you so back out and click on another thread that pertains more to you please keep this thread on topic. I guess I’ll go ahead and start.
The first time I was invited to go out riding with a bunch of other bikers I got so excited and decided to clean the hell out of my bike. Now me being mainly a car person before this used my entire available car care products on my bike including tire shine!
Yep! Like an idiot I tire shined both my tires all over including the tread. After meeting up with these guys and getting to our destination someone said to me “Hey man you ran in some oil or something you gotta go clean it off” I turn and say naw it’s just Tire shine they all looked at me with a WTF!
look and proceeded to tell me how I should have died riding around with that crap on my tire.:
The first day I picked my bike I thought I can probably ride it home it shouldn’t be that hard it’s only a 40 mile trip, luckily that was just a thought what wasn’t just a thought was my smart idea of not waiting for someone to teach me how to ride and taking it out to an empty parking lot and teaching myself it wasn’t much longer then 1 hour and 30 minutes that my bike was on the ground and I was sliding past it. I was taking a turn in a puddle of water and I hit the brakes the rest was history luckily I was only going a slow 20mph so there was hardly any damage just some hurt pride and a broken mirror.
When I think of more I’ll post them…..So what’s some of you’re stories.

Trying to ride my first bike without any experience whatsoever. I hopped on it, put it in first gear, stalled out, then dropped the bike.
Braked with both brakes for a turn, started leaning, downshifted, released the clutch, back end stepped out, but I kept it in line. All on a bike from '82.
Not really stupid I suppose, but I could've dropped it or whatnot if I didn't know how to handle it.

When I first got my RC, I was riding down a main street (3 lanes), no cars in front of me and cars waaaaaay behind me. I decide to look backwards from my left side for some dumb reason, so my left hand is off the bars. I sort of lose my balance a bit and try to hold on with my right hand. Accidentally twist the throttle, scare myself because I'm not used to the instant liter twin power, almost fall off and almost hit the curb running parrallel to the road. I came out ok and didn't go down, but it scared the sh*t outa me!

me too... i still need to get over the fact that 'gentle shifting' hurts the tranny more than 'hard and fast'

why is it bad? i put my left foot down so i can keep my right on the brake... at least on a hill.
if it's for a quick gettaway, why not just go into first when you stop and hold the clutch?

dumbest thing i ever did was try and drag knee in an empty parking lot at night. I tried to force the bike to lean over further than it should and actually ended up saving it from a lowside twice. Knocked that **** off promptly after that.
laid down my 929 going into a turn. it had rained the day before and there was like sand and pebbles on the road, slid like 15 feet into a ditch then stood itself up and rode through a cornfield
the dumb part is i was wearing a helmet gloves joe rocket textile jacket and a helmet but i was wearing shorts
i slid on the road and hit the grass and tried to stand up and run but i was still going to fast and fell face first into the corn when i got up there was about three pounds of mud caked into my helmet and a few pieces of a corn stalk. had a little rash on the side of my right leg and my pride hurt but other than that i was no worse for the wear. bike needed a mirror and paint

the dumbest thing ive done was look away for half a second and almost run into my friend that was on his bike in front of me. i locked up the front wheel and went sliding down the road at about 55 mph. i was missing some skin and had a whole in my foot where something took a chunk of meat out when my shoe flew off. my bike went into oncoming traffic and hit a lincoln head on..the bike didnt make it. and i am still recovering from that.

I've done a couple of dumb things, one was doing a wheelie for a car full of chicks, and hitting a false neutral and coming down extremely hard, in turn racking my nuts so hard on the tank I almost cried. I really did have to pull over and hold my stomach for a couple of mins.
I've ran from the cops

I guess the dumbest thing might be buying a bike and hopping on it. I was determined to do it. I read-up online...'how to ride a bike'. Took me a day or two after buying the bike to grow the ***** to get on it.

OMG you had mad Karma coming your direction because that was serious ownage waiting to happen.
This post is hilarious and
for honesty.
BTW- dumbest things done was my first set of new tires (Dunlop D208's) the guy tells me take it easy. I think this to mean don't lean it over on the freeway etc. how slippery can these things be. I pull out of the driveway and stop 10' away at the first stop sign. Look left/ right. Proceed to apply throttle and lean the bike to go left and the bike instantly low sides at 5-10mph.
I think the term go easy is relative.
2nd dumbest thing is locked my only bike key at the time 1st week of owing in the trunk and nearly lose a hand prying into the trunk to get it back out.
3rd dumbest thing is bent a rotor by forgetting disc lock!
