Unmolested ITR
I've seen that description used. What exactly does that mean?
- 100% OEM stock
- No mechanical mods (interior mods are ok)
- Not abused
- Not driven hard

Its an urban myth, you will never find a 100% unmolested R. At one point or another that car saw some rage! Maybe not much but it saw some.

I wish more people understood that a car that is driven hard isn't considered abused if it is well maintained. Some people like to think that just because a car has been driven hard, it's automatically been abused.

I agree with you. But even an extremely well maintained car can be abused.

I'm talking about a car that has been autocrossed and taken on a road course frequently. Never misshifted, never burnt the clutch, etc.

I think its a fine line, especially with the word never. On a drag strip I've burnt the clutch to save some traction, and not the R but I have mis shifted in cars but caught it before the clutch comes out all the way.....

I guess I look at abuse in the form of neglect, mostly because I would never outright abuse my car. Wearing out a set of tires and brake pads isn't abuse when you've got a proper alignment and clean brake fluid, if that makes sense. Replacing the tires & pads before cords are showing and rotors are damaged goes along with that. Driving around like that would be neglect and not reflective of proper maintenance.
Riding the clutch at an HPDE would be abuse.
Never taking your baby into VTEC is neglect.
I suppose there is unmolested as far as all OEM, and then there is unmolested garage queen spec.

Mine is molested then....lol
Misshift owned me
"Gold Jacket, Green Jacket, who gives a ****." I wouldn't believe from any type R owner that they haven't driven it hard (but a car being driven hard doesn't mean its molested). Why else would you buy such a sports car. I may have misshifted mine at one point and time on the roadcourse, but I guarantee that mine is cared for well and looks great for a 100,000 mile 9 year old car.

Its almost safe to assume that any one selling a car is lieing. Every once in awhile you find an honest seller (Thanks Wai), but for the most part if someone knows what molesting a car is its becuase they molested it themselves. An un molested R is going to be driven by an older person that doesn't even what their driving.

I think you got your answer. As you can see, the meaning is person specific like the saying, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder..."

Are we talking about grinding a gear slightly by engaging the clutch too soon, or selecting the wrong gear? For me, yes on the former, no on the latter. Not while driving spiritedly, just absent-mindedness or bad timing.
