Default NoVA: possible rides

I have thought of this a few times, and wanted to solicit some input.

Would anyone be interested in a ride to different cities on the east coast? I'm thinking we could put a culinary spin on it - ie. going to MD for crab cakes, or Philly for cheesesteaks.

B'more is only about an hour from DC, Philly is more like 2.5-3.

Downsides: lack of twisties, a good amount of travel time.

Philly is a city of culinary delights. Pat's and Geno's are across from each other, and Jim's is close by. I'd be shocked if we only ate one cheesesteak.

I know some people in Philly...so we might have a place to clean our colons before we go back.

The problem is you're talking about boring highway miles. Doing 300 miles into the backroads of West Virginia is one thing but doing it on a highway doesn't seem all that appealing to me... and there's really no chance of getting there using backroads without and overnight stay before you return.

You want to do a roadtrip, ride down to watch us (don't even know who us is anymore) race at VIR in a week and a half.

Route 29 is a straight shot to Danville and actually has some moutainy twisty parts. There's also plenty of places to stop and rest, refuel and eat should you require. That and you get to try and pick up college chicks by UVA and Lynchburg College. If I was riding, that's how I'd go.

as long as gay greg is not around us when we are at UVA - then we should be okay and will not get rear ended.

I'm pretty sure Brian's done it but you'd be smart to stay overnight.

Yeah it's freaking long. I went to VIR once and it was torture. It took like 5 hrs to drive there from DC!

Edit - from NoVA/Honda-Tech to Pat's Steaks is 147 mi. That doesn't sound too bad, and we could certainly cover it in less than the 2h 53min given by google maps.

Count me out on that... I did the DC/Philly route far too many times in college. I love me some cheesesteaks but Pat's and Geno's are where the tourists go and I'm definitely not doing 6 hours roundtrip for them. (Bring me back one if you go. )

If you're serious about having a good time in Philly, let me know. I did all my partying there and most of my college friends are still there. I could definitely hook anyone up with any sort of a good time they wanted.

Where did you go to school, Chris? Why don't y'all ride to the beach or the something. Or trailer the bikes and stunt on the boardwalk.

No where you've ever heard of. A lot of people that live in Philly haven't/hadn't even heard of the school.

1800 students - 600 guys = The answer to a question I get asked all the time.

The question being, "How much did you suffer as a gay college student?"
