I have a few questions to ask. Currently, my ride is Accord '98 4 cycl. I need to change the break pads. I don't know wat kind of brake pads are good. AEM??? Also, can someone gimme a website for good brake pads. Is brake pads hard to change??? IF not, anyone know any websites that teaches how to change brake pads?
get aem pads, better in all aspects than oem. http://www.optauto.com but lots of other places.

Brakes are not something you want to do if you have no experience doing anything to your car. I helped swap a motor into my friends accord and I still dont think I am ready to do brakes.

By the way, to answer the original question, I think from the language I can tell this person is not into any kid of performance at all. OE pads are great (lowest noise and dust you can get) and can grab hard enough for any emergency, but they're a bit pricey at $40 to $60 a set. Even some $20 pads you can get at stores like Pep Boys or Autozone are really good.
That's hilarious. I can do brakes in my sleep under water. I haven't swapped a motor yet.

if you are not racing
and just enjoy relative spirited driving ( afew times per month)
OEM pads are FINE
if you are track racing, and like your backroads and spirited driving, i would go for some hawk/kvr/carbon metallic pads

Aren't the AEM pads made by Nissin, the same as OEM??
Why waste your money??

At 45 for the fronts and 35 for the rears, aem is very good replacement. Made by nissin with more aggressive coumpound for more initial bite, kevlar composites for less break dust, less fade, and better durability. They have less dust, better performance and last longer than oem nissin pads. People at clubsi smarter then, since aem is made in japan by japanese for japanese cars.

Just goto your local AutoZone, Pep Boys, NAPA, etc and tell them you need brake pads for your car. Front and Rears shouldn't cost more than $30. The rear pads for my car are only $10 a set at the local Autozone.
The ONLY time you would want to use differ than OEM/OEM replacement pads is if you do any kind of racing. Why spend more money on the pads AND cause more damage to your rotors for daily driving?
Since I do HPDEs and AutoX i have a set of Hawk HPS+ for the fronts for when i race, and switch to an OEM replacement pad for daily driving, i don't bother w/ the rear pads.

I will refrain from posting about some of the blatently ******* retarded replies about brakes..........
I will take 94Accord's comment one step further though, unless you race or do HPDE's you really don't have no clue what is good or not good as far as brake pads and even braking in general really are
there are a few exepections to the rule and you know who you are, but I only trust a few on this board with serious brake questions, one of whom builds me my track pads
please don't post anything about brakes if you really are just blowing ricer smoke out your ***, or I will be forced to put you in my caliper and see how long you will last braking a 3200 lbs car from 110 mph to 45 mph in less than 100 feet for 35 minutes
