first week owning a VTWIN
Well after riding the GSXR 600 for a year or so, and making it a track only bike I had bought the Aprilia RSV Mille.
VTWIN POWA! and wow, talk about useable power all the way through. Any gear accelerates with no issues. Starting off in first was a hell of a lot different... because there is torque! when I first got my tires on and went cruising around, I almost rear ended a few cars because the acceleration happens instantly, and it wants to get moving. I am kind of shocked I had not taken the vtwin route earlier. The sound, the grumble, the get up and go, it just is such a FUN bike to ride. It is going to be hard not to take this bike to the track at least one. I have gotten on it a few times, and 1st-3rd gear the front wheel just says i am going up.
My only issue with the vtwin is the heat, my ankles feel like they are melting. Engine braking is something I am not used to, so when entering a turn, I have to remember to continue accelerating farther in and then engine braking and braking. If you ever miss a gear or do anything that sounds bad, EVERYONE will hear it.
What bout you other new vtwiners - what are your goods/bads on the twin.

That's not all due to the bike being a twin - it's also due to it being a literbike.

Good stuff... Minmum size for a twin would be a liter for me, seems as though the hp falls off at 750/600 but fun never the less. With the Full race Akrapovic on the nera everyone is looking... even the harley guys.
superchicken. around town I average around 90 something per 3 gallons when i fill her up. i still have another gallon left but fill up when the light comes on. Highway I get about 46mpg
Bad
-Poor gas mileage
-heat
Good
-Useable power all the time
-powerful engine braking means i use the brakes less
-sweet grumble
-skinny between the knees
-more stable in corners
-friggin everything.

The Bad:
the bike almost loops as you take off from the stop light...
The Good:
your friend saw teh whole thing
The Priceless:
the look on your friends face as he's laughing his *** off

lol. was that riding it hard or around town? For me when riding hard it varies A LOT. Some days im pulling better then what I do in town with mid 30's and other days low 30's high 20's... I think my gas mileage is inversely proportionate to the number of wheelies I do. lol

Nobody mentioned weight as a pro or con. I guess it's a pro and a con. Twins (liter) are generally heavier, which sucks when going slow but is less noticeable once moving at a good pace. However, the weight is what makes the bike "feel" more stable or planted.

weight is one thing i noticed when going slow, it was weird.. but once moving it was like the bike is on rails and is so smooth/stable.
i wonder if there is some type of sheild/guard to prevent the heat that hits my ankles
