Default how to remove window trims

hey guys and gals,

so i'm about to prep my car for paint. I'm going to prep the whole car myself with a buddy. Nothing is really wrong with the paint on my car right now. but i just dont like the fact that it doesnt match. even though its painted the same color all the way around. but the last person who painted it didnt prep it correctly or something and the bumpers are darker then the rest of the car. and side skirts is a diff shade. There's also a few dings i want to get out.

I dont want to just tape over the window sills/trims and then paint. cause most of the ones i've seen paint still got on the trims and it looks really shitty.

My question is how do you remove those trims around the window, the windsheild and the hatch? Is there an article somewhere?

Before anyone says i'm in over my head trying to prep and paint a car. I've done an internship at a bodyshop for 2 weeks and i prepped 2-3 cars for paint the whole time i was there so i got the hang of it pretty well.

Thanx.

k.

In all seriousness though. I have no idea. I'm guessing if you look at it you should be able to find the origin of how it's installed and remove it in reverse order.

Don't be rude to the guy man. Anyways, maybe there is a clip on the interior of the car holding it on, much like a side molding???

Start at one end and work your way down.

It is very easy to break the clips...

I usually grab them with my thumbs facing me as i am standing outside the car, and have my other fingers on the backside. Just lift up and rotate back towards you. It will be very hard to get it started but then it is pretty easy. It makes some awful noises as you are doing it also.

anybody else have any ideas on how to do this? I really dont want to tape it up. cause the last time it was painted it was taped and paint didnt get all the way in the edge and is chipping a little bit cause they couldnt prep in there.
