Default ? on compression ratios

hi im new here. i have a B18A1 motor and was wanting to know if using 10.5:1 compression would be to high. i plan on going all motor. would this be to much to blow a head gasket? i have a set of cams and cam gears, intake and exhaust done already. if i do go with the 10.5:1 compression what else should i do to keep from distroying my motor. any help or suggestions would be great. thanks

Dude, 10.5:1 is far from dangerous for all-motor. You don't really have to worry until you get up around 12:1. What cams do you have? That actually might not be enough compression.

Tuning, tuning, and oh yeah, tuning.

Some stock motors from honda sit around that.

10.5 is nothing to worry about just run 91/93 on it.

pick some cams that will work with that comp ratio and work with your timing.

What are you planning on doing to raise your compression? I would suggest doing a 2 layer headgasket and ITR pistons. That should give you plenty of compression.

On another note, it can be hard to make big number with B18A/B heads so I hope you are thinking into the future about serious head work or VTEC head.

Yep. Contact JG. Of course, you'll have to know what grind you have.
