HELP!!!! Axle/Tranny question
Good Day everyone,
I was just out changing a ball joint on my passenger side of my 94 integra ls. I noticed when changing the ball joint that my inner boot that goes into my transmission is a little loose when i grab/shake it. I check the drivers side and it is in strong, anyone know if it is supposed to be like this?
or if anything internal could be gone?
I do not hear any noise's or clicking. Please help HT.

the axle is in the transmission, you can shake the boot more then the drivers side, which in turn makes the axle shift. initially my father thought it would be a bearing. I called a acura dealership and he the mechanic said it's common for one to be stiffer then the other.
if you were to take off both front wheels and grab the inner cv boot and try and shake/move it would both feel the same? can someone try this?

So if you grab hold of the metal portion of the inner joint (the part directly adjacent to the differential case, where the boot is clamped on) and try to move it, is there freeplay between the joint and the axle shaft itself? Do you get any vibration only when accelerating?

The axle is loose in the transmission, there in no play between the joint and the axle shaft... the shaft that goes into the transmission is up and down play, and side to side play.
see above for the post on turning when accelerating, when going straight I don't hear it.

seems like the bearing is gone in the transmission... the axle is fine it's the only thing i can think of, i put the car on jack stands and put it in first gear and let the wheels rotate and noticed that there is play up and down
Well, Its kinda hard to under stand what your asking.
Are you saying that when you move the axle, it moves inside the tranny?
or it moves at the boot near the balljoint?
