i think it was honda tuner magazine i was reading where i saw an accord coupe V6 with a comptech supercharger and it only ran a 14.7 in the quarter mile. that's a pathetic number for spending $3000 at the least. and only 6.5 seconds 0-60. i think it had somewhere around 230hp and 193 lb ft of torque. not mind-blowing numbers but if that's all the accord V6 can get out of a supercharger, then i'd rather spend $3000 on a turbo. speakin of, what numbers can a turbocharged accord get, roughly?

 

The 6th gen is a boat--keep that in mind. Also keep in mind that this supercharger is a brand new product from Comptech. Also, how much boost was it spinning? 230hp crank or wheel? Also, 1 test at one time does not tell the whole story. Depending on conditions and driver, that 14.7 could turn into a 13.9 or even a 15.5.

 

i'd rather spend the money on a custom turbo set up and be running close to 300 hp at the wheels than be spending the same amount of cash on a supercharger that only puts out 230 hp...what a waste...that 30 extra hp is horrible for what it is...it should be giving that big v6 around 250 hp at least...but oh well...yet another failure to put out decent power numbers on expensive aftermaket parts!

 

That V6 is not that big. There are 4.3 liter V6's out there.

 

first, it was probably a completely stock v6...with a supercharger...and anyone with some brains would know that you have to open up the I/H/E before you bolt on something like a SC.

also, since the kit isn't out yet...its probably not even the production kit...

Hmm 14.7 when mine does 15.6 stock. 230hp to the wheels without intake header exhaust (I know it is to the wheels as comptech said the supercharger would produce 60-70 extra hp to the wheels and the stock hp numbers at the wheels are in the 156-160 range.) Sure it is expensive but the HKS turbo kit made less horsepower than this and was about the same price. You must remember that the Auto tranny on the V6 Accord is a weak spot and the turbo was very harsh on the transmission where as the Comptech Supercharger has been driven hard on the car for over 10000 miles without so much as a hickup. It has been said that a V6 Accord with boltons will get into the High 14's so put boltons on that supercharged Accord and then see what it will do.

 

the 300zx's engine was meant for turbocharging. the accords v6 is not.

 

plus the stock exhaust layout is GARBAGE

 

Point being? Ford has a 2.5 liter V6. I'm not saying the J30 is the smallest V6 around, but it certainly isnt the biggest either.
