My RC51-Updated pics, and a video!
As some of you may remember i sold my beautiful silver/black 03 F4i this May and picked up this ridiculously awesome 01 RC51. When i got it, it looked like this

The consensus was that the yellow was nasty. So, after peeling off every brand sticker from the fairings i did the red rim tape, and i think it really toned down the yellow. I also changed out the highmount HMF pipes for some nice titanium Yoshis.
There's a new development going in Gig Harbor, and it's been gated off for a couple years now while they do construction. Well, so far, all they've gotten done is the asphault and the sidewalks. Fortunately for us the sidewalks have those nice round edges so you roll right up them and go around the gate, and the freshly paved asphault is completely untouched. My friend with his Mille and our girlfriends went back there for some pictures. We only did a couple passes by the girls so the action shots aren't as cool as i was hoping, and the video is when we were both coming back to tell the girls we were leaving, it's mostly just for the sound. But, enjoy anyway!

Very nice rc dude! I plan on upgrading to either that or a repsol 1000 next year. How do you like the v-twin power? Swapped to the yosh pipes because?
Anyways, don't need a novel so i'll just give a

I swapped the yoshi pipes because i read that HMFs are pretty bad. The HMFs were loud to the point of sounding crappy. I wanted to put passenger pegs back on it, AND i like the look of low mounts on the RC.
I love the power of the RC. As my friend and i put it, vtwins are fast, but there's no "face melting" high end like on inlines. Overall, i love the power, i can hammer down at any RPM and get going where i want, and i actually like not having the "face melting" because i feel more comfortable on the bike...although a 1000rr is tempting....

i don't have an address for it, and frankly, i don't want to turn this housing development in to an unofficial track. It's only going to result in neighbors calling the cops and bikers getting arrested. Besides, i don't want any more cops back in that area to begin with.
Lombard st. is a nice enough road to ride on, if you happen to find the housing development, then props to you.

It looks worlds better without the yellow-pinstriping. The red flows with the bike better.
Personally, I would not have chosen red grips, but then again, no one can see your grips when you're riding.

I like what you've done! The yellow and stunna pipes looked horrible.

Nice bike i'll let you get a few thousand more miles under your belt and ask how some questions
personally i wouldn't have put red grips on it, but you don't see em like marm said so no big deal, the red stripe on wheel def looks better than yellow.

Soooooo were they stunna pipes because they were highmounts or because theywere HMF's?

perhaps... Both? the higher the pipe the higher the center of gravity, in addition the bends in those pipes are SHARP to say the least, but hey... there stunning

That's what caught my eye. I don't see those tight bends on Sato, Moriwaki, Yoshimura, Akropovic, etc.

funny story about those pipes. The previous owner ran in to Hans (the "H" in HMF) at a track day, and Hans asked him if he could mock up a set of HMF pipes to fit the RC51. He did, and those pipes were the original HMF high mount pipes for the RC51. Wouldn't be surprised if they worked out a few bugs later.
I didn't like that the link pipes were straight with no taper, and the cans sounded like D&Ds or something. Yoshi for the win. (or moriwaki, cause those pipes are hott)

actually we haven't swapped yet. His bike was out of commission for almost the whole time i've been back because he decided to get Renegade pipes, and they ******* suck. The first set they sent him didn't fit, but he ended up hacking up his fairing to try and make it fit. A week later they finally start responding to emails, and another week and a half later they finally send him some new pieces. He goes to ride it last night (Everything seems to fit), but as soon as he leans over he scrapes his kickstand (due to the relocator plate they provided him with since normally the kickstand will hit their shitty exhaust). Then every time the swingarm moves upwards it gets scratched by the cans, leaving huge marks in it. Pretty fantastic.
Cliff notes: I haven't ridden his bike yet, but we might swap this weekend.

That's some horrible news about the Renegade pipes.
My thoughts on the subject:
A premium bike like the Ape deserves quality components if you're going to swap out the OEM parts. Putting Renegade pipes on the Mille is like putting an APC muffler on a Mercedes.

agreed in full. Everyone wants to know when I'm putting an exhaust on my SIII and I dont' really have 800 bucks for a clean set right now, and i'm not putting on shitty 300 jardine's.
