Pats fake ef9 project.. start to finish?(ehhhhhhhhhhh)
So the project starts a year ago . Pat had a DA daily driver that he didnt do much too, and after a lil bump up with him and a metal fence post he decided to get an EF hatch shell and switch the LS and brakes over. Which would be fine for a daily driver and for work (pizza dilivery driver)
After a few weeks of searching he found an gold 88 dx auto with gross brown interior with a blown d15 that obviously exploded . ha. The engine bay was coverd with crease, oil ect to the point u couldnt see a spot of the factory paint under the hood. pat really wasent looking foward to doing an auto to manuel swap. but for 300 bucks with title he coudnt beat it.. so he picked it up.. A week or so later after buggin this guy for weeks about an Ef in his back yard Pat was able to pick up a silver ef hatch manuel with black interior with no title for an 150 bucks. which was great cuz no one wants brown interior and now he had all the parts needed for the auto to manuel conversion, not mentioning a few body parts that were in better shape,
After selling some things off the DA to gather money for mounts and ect for the swap and gathering a few used parts from friends. Pat had him self an ok beater, ls swap,az racing mounts. password carbon intake, battery relocation kit,no name lowering springs ,amber corners and a momo wheel. It suited him to get to place to place and was pretty fun to drive..

after a few months or so of driving the car pat started having a oil leak and narrowed it down to the oil pressure sending unit figured it was just loose. went to tighten it up and well...................
no good.
At this point Pat was about to start a new job that would provide him with a company car and most importantly a lil more money.. he really didnt want to pull the motor just to fix it and stick it back in, and now with a better paying job he had more options... So needles to say . so long ls beater hello GSR wannabe ef9..
first thing first pulling the LS

then a lil upgrade on the suspension and brakes. kyb shocks, sportline springs UGR lcas and finaly did the da rear brakes, prop vavle and booster

Then it was time to put the GSR in. but first we wanted to clean up the bay a lil and respray it. then we added a few lil things before the swap. Password thermal IM gasket ,aem fuel rail for a lil bling and a DC sport header..We also did a 100K mile tune up with oem timing belt and water pump.

(Pat taking a break on the swap)
Before finishing the swap up parts started coming in. Jdm front. Edm/optional center lower console, fake spoon style mirrors , thermal R&D exhuast and we picked up a few new trim moldings and a antenna block off from honda ,

SO finally after a few months of work and some ecu and dizzy problems the motor was in And with a new fender the front end was on and lined up.

a few weeks prior pat was able to score his old wheels back from his da from a friend

so we monted them up and went on our first real ride in the car sense the dizzy problems and front end was on..
The plan at this point was to ride over to a friends house (wtfjdmbbq) to score some 89 si front seats and some 90-91 amber coners..When we got there brandon (wtfjdmbbq) was promised a ride in the car .. i stayed behind (no back seats) ... After 30 mins and they havent returned i gave pat a call after about 4 rings pat answers "yo dude i wrecked my ****** car" i said " are u guys alright?" he said "yea but the car is deff totaled" my stomach feel to the floor.. i drove up the wreck to see interior peices scatterd and a mangled ef we had put so many man hours in and just got it that drivable point just a few hours prior... luckily everyone was alright..

pat decribed how the wreck happen like this "speed.. bright lights. slight turn.. off the road a lil..bad reaction.. boom"
as we were loading the car onto the trailor. pat laughed and said " i guess we are starting over "
another EF bites the dust...... now we are on the hunt for a new shell. most of the parts from the car are still usable so thats a plus,,
id like to think everyone that helped out with the project in any shape or form.
jamclaur , jason ridge, dustin gobble, tim. andrew ,gary essick. and everyone else at import specialist. wtfjdmbbq and everyone on Ht that helped out with problems and we bought and sold to. rebuild starts soon.. deff have a detailed project log....
(im not a writer and i cant spell so sry for all the fucked spelling and grammer in this post)ha

****. and i feel like it was my fault a little. i m the one that wanted to ride in it. and it was fast as **** for about 3 secs. everyones like "he must have been a shitty driver", and im like no way dude, if you get off the road even a little going that fast your *** is done for. it happens to the best sometimes. once we lost it, even the hardest japanese drifter elite king couldnt have saved it. tell pat i love him . and you too ant.
BEST OF LUCK TO FINDING/SWAPPING A NEW SHELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MISS SHIFt!!!!

first we thought something in the wiring was wrong. went throught it hundred times and it keeped checking out.. then we found out the ecu was bad. looked for a ecu for awhile then just decided to do a chipped p28. So then we knew the ecu was good and then it ran a lil better but start throwing an ignitor code, and boggin out at 3500rpms ..change the ignitor out and that code stoped and then we developed about 3 other dizzy codes. i guess something fucked up while changing the ignitor. then we rounded up another dizzy from a friend and it was ready to go.....

god that sucks man, I couldnt imagine wrecking the car a couple hours after geting my swap done but at least everyone was alright and the next swap will go soooo much easier and faster.
But on another note....Wanna sell that exhaust?

dont use the battery holddown in this pic I had one just like that and although it felt secure during an autocross run that thin bar in the center bent and the battery came loose
. get one a lot beefier or make a thick one out of aluminum like I did
^^ yea we found that out.. the battery straight came loose and went through the rear windown.
