I removed the rear seats, hatch side panels, carpet, spare, lid, and jack last week, getting ready for some paintless dent repair. It's maybe 40 lbs or so of stuff. I'd say the car feels a tiny bit quicker. It's definitely louder.

Every pound counts on our torque-less cars. I weighed them all individually a couple years ago -

I know of someone who recently drove his IS300 off a mountain and burned 25 acres of land. Over 190 firefighters were dispatched to the scene. I hate to think of what his bill looked like for that mess.

But by all means, continue to go on your canyon runs.

Where is the pic of that white R on the cliff with d00d standing next to it. That's what this reminds me of.

We all know that we all drive spirited on public roads. What everyone is trying to tell you is that driving near the limit of your car or your capability on a public road is dangerous to yourself or others.

So, yes, go have fun on a public road (we all do), but DO NOT approach your limits on a public road.

If you want to test the limits of your car, you need to do that at an autocross or an HPDE where the variables are controlled and there is much less of a risk for injury to yourself, your car and more importantly others.

So, to answer your question, removing 40lbs won't be a performance advantage for the street.

You will not feel the difference, but given your at a track drag racing and you run the exact quarter mile with the 40lbs off the car; obviously there will be a slightly better time as a result.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Dave_B &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Where is the pic of that white R on the cliff with d00d standing next to it. That's what this reminds me of.</TD></TR></TABLE>

First thing that pop'd in my head as well.

Basically there is too many variables to add in if you are auto-x/tracking the car to fell a difference or see a difference with a 40lb lighter chassis, but like stated above if you are drag racing and are consistent on your 60ft's and want to shave off time, this will help slightly.

However I dont think this pertains to what your trying to achieve with a lighter car, so.....

Dont do it

I am not going to give you alot of **** for driving dangerously...I am just going to say be safe, and think about those who cannot react or drive as well as you can.

As for the weight, I have all mine out, and the caR is loud as ****. As for overall speed, can feel a tiny bit of difference, but not enough to worry about. It only helps in my opinion if you plan on having a passenger and they weight like 200lbs...have 40lbs less in the back makes them not hold the car (torque ownz us) back as much on hills.

Relax there Mr. 2006 member with 98%. He's only voicing a concern.

Your question has already been answered but again, removing your seats and such should not make a difference on the street.

I love it how the guy is still in good spirits by giving the right after it happened.
