how to check & reset the check engine light?
I forgot how to check & reset the check engine light on a 97 Integra LS. I use to have a web site book marked but lost it some place. Please list all detail's on how to reset or chceck cause or web sites. I have pulled the ECU fuse which did not reset it. The car did have a muffler leak which I thought was the cause for the light since the car runs perfect.

Thank you for the web site. (very nice). I did it and counted the flashes (8 long and seem to give one short and count eight long and two short till it went up to I think 6) Does anyone have a list of what that is? (list of codes) That web page is a great page but it does not list what the codes are or how to reset the light. My check engine light still did not rest after I checked it.

Thank you again
Hmmm I'm confused I read flashes that seem to repeat and 8 and increase one.
1) 8 long flashes 1 short
2) 8 long flashes 2 short
3) 8 long flashes 3 short
4) 8 long flashes 4 short
5) 8 long flashes 5 short
6) 8 long flashes 6 short
I thought it was trying to tell me it had 8 as a code 6 times in memory. I will check it again Monday. I must have read it wrong some how.

I checked again and counted with all my fingers and toes this time to be sure I counted correct. This is what I get.
1) 7 long 1 short
2) 7 long 2 short
3) 7 long 3 short
4) 7 long 4 short
5) 7 long 1 short
6) 7 long 2 short
7) 7 long 3 short
8) 7 long 4 short
and keeps repeating. Car seems to run perfect. The codes are listed on this page

to be related to a Cylinder Misfire or a Random Misfire a condition is present that is creating a cylinder misfire. Car has new plugs, wires and ignition (all installed last fall by a Acura dealer.
Anyone have any idea's why?

hmm...try resetting the ECU by disconnecting the battery for about a minute.....and see if that takes care of it.
If that doesn't work...then if I were you i'd bring it in to the dealer and show them.

I should mention or it may be related. Last week I had to replace my defective RS*R cat back system (not a stock muffler). The light came on though over a month ago and took it for granit it was because the muffler was leaking. I will try resetting the ECU by disconnecting the battery for about a minute. Hope it works. I know my dealer will find some thing... to charge me $$$ for if it doesn't.
