My car has been intermitently hesitating over the past couple weeks. It was the worst today cruising around 3,000rpm in 4th gear it felt like a slight jolt, like it wasn't getting enough gas. Othertimes it feels like it is just struggling.

I have recently changed: spark plugs/wires, fuel filter, distributor cap/rotor, igniter and I have had the head rebuilt.

I saw a post about the TPS, but im not sure what this is (or where). I have a Chilton's manual but it is at work.

My questions are:
If this sensor is bad is it a simple fix, or does it have to go to a shop?
Could it be something else like dirty injectors or a fuel pump going bad?

PS no CEL yet

 

O2 sensor sounds like the culprit....have you ever replaced them?

jetydosa just had what sounds like the exact same problem and a new sensor solved it all.

 

Nope I haven't replaced them.

Do I just wait for the inevitable CEL to see which one is bad? Can I just replace the sensor or is there more to it?

 

if i were a bettin man id put my money on the primary.

i don't know if same lenght.. but try swapping secondary with primary. this way you can avoid spending money on **** that may/may not help.

 

btw, whats the condition of your catalytic converter?

 

Not sure of the condition, I have almost 110,000 miles on it though.
