Where to buy Mobil 1 oil filters - online or locally?
That's right autozone doesn't have them, pep boys doesn't have them.....
M-104 or M-105 please!
Otherwise I'm gonna order some amsoil filters or something.....
i just bought one at autozone, thought id be nice to my car. but why exactly is it $12? if you cant find any i'll ship you up a box full (if you pay for them ofcourse)
Ken, I USED to run them on my road race car. But the 2 I tried leaked at the O ring since it wasn't exactly the same size as the stock one. I know I guy who tried them on a VW and he had the same problem and doesn't use them anymore. I'd just stock to the Honda filter. OEM in this case

Well, I've been using the honda filters up to this point but was considering changing... Why? Well I'm running mobil 1 and am happy with the 5w30 synthetic oil... Also, that filter comparo on bseries.net (by the north texas prelude owners group) seemed to indicate that the stock filter media is somewhat lacking:

So has anyone tried the m104 or m105 on an itr? Any leaking problems? I wanna change my oil ASAP!

I run the M-104 without problems.
What are you going to put the M-105 on?
(it will be right next to the others
)
The Mobil filter was rated near the top in the filter test mentioned above.

m105 will go on the b20 vtec beater... err... b20 + b00st monster... err... on the toda powered true to this forum kaa!
m105 is supposedly just oversize of the m104, and should filter more (in theory)... Anything I should be worried about with it? Maybe it's bigger and doesn't push as much pressure, so not as good?

Use the Bosch or STP, then. Of the three Mobil1, Bosch, or STP, your local autoparts store should carry one. I generally get the Bosch, because it's half the price of the Mobil1 and a $1 cheaper than the STP.
The Mobil 1 filter is a good one, but I always thought it was too pricey and on the small side (no I never tired the larger size). I just can't see spending $10 on a filter when really good ones can be had for $5 or less. Believe it or not, the Walmart Super-Tech filter is decent ... and only costs $2. They are made by the same company (Champion Labs) that makes the Mobil 1 filter ... albeit to different specs. Still, I don't see the Mobil 1 filter being 5 times better. I recommend the Super-Tech to Fram users. They get a better filter and save a buck to boot!
I use Hastings filters right now (Hastings makes Amsoil). A Purolator Pure One would be my 2nd choice in the aftermarket filters for Hondas.
K&N oil filters may be great if you are autocrossing and spend some quality time near the red line because they flow a great deal of oil, but that flow may come at the expense of letting smaller bits through. This may be detrimental to LONG TERM durability.
Oh, and I talked to the author of that NTPOG study and discussed with him the quality of the OEM filter media. I believe he is going to revise his remarks. The 'fuzzy' media is not bad, but instead a plus. I found a guy who makes filter media and he explained the process to me.
However, I only used the Filtech OEM filters (made in the USA) and not the Fram OEM filters (made in Canada). Cheesy cardboard end caps **** me off. But, the Filtech filters are getting harder and harder to find.
This is why i now use Hastings.
Oh, and don't equate lower pressure with "bad". Lower pressure may mean a LESS restrictive oil filter. Less restriction = more flow = good good good.
It all depends on where the oil pressure reading is taken, etc ...

Has anybody had any personal expirience with Wix (I believe that's how it's spelled) oil filters. I was talking to the crew cheif for our World Challenge team about this and he swears by those filters. He says that they're the best around...anybody have any opinions??
