...are you riding without gloves, jacket, boots or pants? Is it "just too hot" to wear the gear some say they swear by. Do you relax the rules because you don't want your internal organs to cook like they're in a microwave?

I considered it... but was too lazy to think of all the appropriate options. Yay for Mondays!

I'm in the complete southeastern tip of Alabama and I'll ride during the daytime with just gloves/helmet. Once the sun goes down, I'll put the jacket on because it's too damn hot to even breathe.
I was out yesterday and had Helmet, Gloves, jeans, and boots on. It was still way to hot. I stick the the AC in the car on days like this. The night is a alittle different.

This is a good time to start thinking about active safety. As opposed to wearing good gear, active safety involves making decisions that will allow you to think and react to situations you encounter riding with, hopefully, your best ability.
I'll never ride more than a mile without a jacket on - but I won't won't wear riding pants on days like today, I'll wear my mesh jacket, mesh gloves, and my best venting helmet. I look at a tinted shield as a must, as well. Anyhting you can do to reduce strain will allow you to think more quickly.
Joe Rocket Sahara vest? Maybe you'll want to consider it. If you get on the bike and you find yourself just miserable, and thinking about only that, it's a good time to think about taking the car, and A/C.
It wouldn't be a bad idea to plan your riding ahead of time, as well. Anything you can do to keep moving and avoid the sun just beating down on your waiting-in-traffic-*** is good. I actually rode at night last night and I was wishing I had my leather with me... I've never tucked under the bubble to stay warm in July before!

Gloves, Helmet and Boots today.
Call me a squid, but Its ******* hot out and my a/c equipped truck gets somewhere south of 13mpg with the a/c on.
You can have a safe rider wearing no gear, or an unsafe rider wearing all the gear you can buy - which would you rather be?

Depends on whether or not there are cages on the road with me.
Honestly, if riding in AC isn't an option I'd probably choose to be unsafe with gear.

I'll take 48mpg over 13..... if I can ride to work in 40 degree weather, I can handle 95 degrees. Working 8am-6-7pm also means I'm not out in the heat at any part of the day on the bike except my 2 mile trip to subway at lunch.

Commuting to work on 25-35mph backroads and residential streets... no thanks

I agree with .RJ (
) Where do you get that info from? Everyone knows the worst time to be out is between 10am-2pm.
