Default Will a 97 oem acura 6disc changer work in my 98 civic?

I picked this 6 disc changer up from a friend of mine for free. It looked to have the same plug as my stock oem cd player(which recently stopped working ) so i figured i'd give it a try. We plugged it into my oem radio where the old oem cd player hooked up to and the plug fit fine. Only problem is when i hit cd on the radio it wont switch over to the cd changer...yet the cd changer is getting power as i'm able to eject out the cartridge.

I wonder if it has something to do with my ghetto wiring. We couldn't get the door open on his wrecked integra to get the whole cable out for the disc changer so we ended up cutting it. I took all the little wires inside of the cable and matched them up and twisted them together. I didn't bother soldering them yet because i wanted to be sure everything worked so for the time being i just electrical taped them. As far as i can tell it should work fine.

depends on the headunit. If it has the program for the aux input plus control. If the changer plugs in then yes... it will work

it was actually this one thicker brown wire. Apparantely there was shielding around another inner smaller brown wire that i hadn't noticed the night before. After i hooked that up and soldered all the wires it worked fine.
