Default questions about the ridgeline 4wd system...

i recently impounded a ridgeline...and to play it safe i put dollies under the rear wheels. however, i moved it around my impound yard without dollies and the rear wheels seemed to roll just fine.

i'm wondering if the 4wd system is activated via electronic plates or something like that so its actually a 2wd system until the rear wheels are needed.

please verify this for me.

Yes, torque only goes to the rear when the computer tells it too. Completely electronic..

I don't know the circumstances behind the Ridgeline getting impounded, but thanks for giving enough of a **** to ask this and not just damaging some poor schmuck's truck. to you.

that's what i figured. You still did it right though. It's always a good measure to prevent damage.

Yes, it has the same system as the Acura MDX. front wheel drive until you need the 4wd or you can lock it in 1,2,R up to speed 18mph. No 4wd on dry pavement!

My Ridgeline actually has a problem in the transmission when I go over speed bumps or some curbs over 15mph. The fluid gets thrown somewhere inside and the trans has trouble regaining itself until a few seconds or so passed. Feels like stall for a short time then picks up after it settles.

Anyone else experience this?

take it back to the dealer then. That sounds like a problem that needs to be resolved pretty quick
