It won't hurt anything but for best practice you should always push the clutch in when changing gears, not that it matters when it is off. But like I said, if the car is turned off it should not hurt anything. Unless you have to force it into a gear, then don't do it.

I'm sorry. They are much more fun to drive, and you have alot more control of the car. Especially the new Si.

Best thing is practice and getting a feel for your car. Some take more time than others. If you have any friends that drive standards and are good at driving, sit in the car with them and observe. Ask them questions about why they are shifting and at what points.

If you are trying to conserve fuel, shift around 3,000 rpms (at the most) for each gear. If you don't care, I usually shift between 5,000 and 7,000 (Vtec kicks in at 6,000). Depends on my speed and where I am at. If you want to move fast, shift around the redline (around 8,000 rpm's). Your car will increase in speed faster, you will feel it pull harder and you will see why driving standard is more fun. Everything I descriped in this paragraph is what I do with my Si. The redline point is different depending on your car, which you will see on the tachometer.

I own a 06' Si..
I usually shift between 3,000-4.000 rpms..
more than this the car is very loud
And I noticed that if I do shift between 6-7 i'll have only 9mpg ..
I never waited for the redline point.. I'll try that

Vtec is what really brings out the sound once you hit 6,000 rpm's. Correct, the more rpm's you go to, the more gas you use. I see you are really a noob to all this. The more power you consistently use, the more wear and tear you put on your car. You need to be careful not to burn out your engine doing this. Make sure it is broken in properly (follow the manual).
