ZC help!
I have decided to go with a ZC for now due to my money situation, the potential it has, and Ill be doing more course racing than straight up track racing.
I have a friend who has a rolled A 90 si, the car is totalled but the engine is fine and ive been getting parts from that since I bought my car.
What should I get from his car??? axles, mounts, maybe even his tranny?
My axles are fine, but I fig. get his while we have the engine out.....but thats the question, I DO have to pull out the whole tranny and engine when I pull out my old engine for the ZC right....or can I leave the tranny, axles everything in, drop the ZC in and bolt everything up....that seems a lil difficult, so I fig. Id get my friends si tranny and bolt that up to the ZC while they were apart from the engine then drop it into his mounts.

definately take the Si tranny over the DX. You will also need either hybrid axels or Si hubs. (the dx and Si have different number of splines. I personally have the hybrid axels) and take his wiring harness too. get the 89 teg ECU it works the best.
Damn, alright so I can use my axles with his hubs? get a ecu from a 89 teg, hook that up to the zc-si wiring harness
Will his si tranny work with my dx axles though?? and should I take his motor mounts??? or will the zc fit fine with my stock mounts?

no you will need the the si axels to fit in the Si tranny. The axels i have are Si on one end(tranny side) and DX on the other(hub side). the motor mounts are the same between the Si and DX, however it wouldn't hurt to buy some new ones cause they prolly old and rotten. So if you use the Si tranny you will either need the hybrid axels to fit with yuor dx hubs or get Si hubs and Si axels... anymore questions just ask..
How long should this take me If I have all the tools and work hard....
and besides ardperformance, where can I get a zc in good shape?
whatever I need from his car is okay, I might as well just get the hubs and axles from a si, the si tranny, and Ill keep my stock mounts cause they are in good shape but I will get some ES motor mount bushings.
His ecu harness though, I need that to hook up with the zc motor harness right? is my dx harness going to be used at all.....so wire wise...I get the teg 89 ecu(any other ecu work?) his harness and use that with the zc harness and everything should work. Will the shift linkage on my dx work on the si tranny? I assume it would

If you can get his harness use it so then you don't need that link. With the Si it's plug and play except for the distributor plugs which you will need to resolder or unplug each wire if you can(I couldn't so I cut, stripped and soldered). Sorry to hear about your friends car, but don't let its parts get smashed, use the ones you can.

Here are some potential problems you may run into: The ZC normally don't come with a downpipe. Seals and gaskets on 12 year old motors tend to be a little brittle. Broken sensors (TPS). You may as well do as much maintenance to the motor as you can before the install. It is a pretty straight forward install the wiring is very well documented. Definitely get the Si tranny. Get his accelerator cable, intake pipe, throttle body and basically anything else you can think you can use. You can use the DX or Si axles they are the same. YOu can use either the teg or the Si ecu.
Once I get the stock engine out and I go to put the zc engine in, I have to bolt up the SI tranny to the ZC block...how difficult is this??? I mean this is where I get stumped...what is involved?? and should I replace the clutch I know his clutch was good cause we always used to tear the hell outta his car before he wrecked it but should I sense it will be exposed?
I think im just going to keep my DX tranny IM sure htat pisses everyone off....but oh well I do plan to go turbo later on and I know the DX has a lil bit longer gear ratios, hell I hit 40 mph now in 1st......sooooo
But I am getting my friends ecu, and harness, seats, im mostly getting things I can just take out without removing the engine, I dont want to do all that, the only engine I want to rip out is mine. His is not driveable and is at a friends where it sits outside and would be hard to go there and tear out the engine.
The DX tranny will work with the ZC though right????....and should I get anyhting else fomr him? maybe the axles, I know everyone has said my axles will be okay esp. If I jsut keep my tranny they are in good shape too so ILl prob. just keep mine.
