Default Integra GSR only goes up to 6500 RMP on 3rd gear why?

My freinds GSR OBD1 recently was running fine, til one day he decided to have a little fun ( racing) 1 gear ok, 2nd gear ok, but when he poped it to 3rd gear it only went to about 6500 rpms, like he had a rev limiter but he doesn't, it does it everytime he goes to thrid gear he can't past 6500 RMP on third gear only! 4th he can go all the way to 8000 rpms... anyone know why?

i dont mean to be one of those smart *** posters, but

why wouldnt you want to take it all the way up to 8 in 1-4 gear?

and im assuming its on the street.

which is not the smartest choice.

does it have the stock ecu? is it chipped?

make sure the ECU is connected properly and make sure the ECU says P72.. my friend had the same problem before and it turn out that he was running a P75 ECU
