Why did the intro say Improved Touring? Is MCSCC IT different than SCCA IT?
Too cautious on the start. You seem tentative, is this one of your first races?
You could have passed that CRX on the front straight easy, why are you babying it around? There's room to go 3 wide there if you need to.
You can pass going into the braking before the last turn (right in that bend). Plenty of room. No need to wait.
what happened going into turn 1?! You could have had the Miatas
What's with all the short-shifting and lolligaging?
Glad to see you got through some of the miatas by mid-race.. I stopped watching

Thanks for the reply.
I am running with the IT group but UNR because of the motor swap.
Not my frist race but first one of the season, I know I need to get better at the starts.
I am baybing the car a bit since it was the first race after we rebuilt the motor and got it all broken in and tuned.
So I am building up confidence and trust that the motor is going to hold together. I do eventually get a head of all of the Miatas and I end up 3rd over all. Beat out by a Porsche and a BMW.
I will post some more races. The last race I was second on the grid for qualifying and pushed alot harder. I brougt my times down. This race I was 1:24.440 last race I was down to 1:23.832

if the motor is going to pop, it's going to pop. running it soft won't change that, it will just delay the innevitable.
i saw a lot of thumb to thumb hand placement on the steering wheel. don't do that.
don't waste your time weaving back and forth on the pace lap. you aren't doing anything for the tires and driving on and off line is just going to track **** onto the racing line and get more of it stuck to your tires.
squeeze onto the throttle coming off corners. your slapping the throttle into the floor.
i only watched up to your first pass attempt on the ITA crx. you went about 3 car lengths deeper then you usually did before you tried the brakes and then when you did hit the brakes you jacked up on them so hard they just locked. you had enough power on the crx that you were completely by him and could have pulled back on line before entering the next corner. there was also no need to try to outbrake him.

Thanks for the input.... I will have to work on the throttle use. Also like I said before this race was the first one after we got the car back together. I got a lot more comfortable in the car as the race goes on.
continuing the constructive criticism...
solo-x mentioned your hand position. I agee with him, it could use work, and luckily, it is very easy to fix. On right turns you adopted this 11 and 2 hand position. Many of those turn didn't require that you move your hands at all, but you still slid them to the right of the wheel, and kept them both there. In the future, try to adopt a 9-3 position. And try not to slide hands on the wheel unless it is a really tight turn where you have no choice. This should make you feel a little more consistent, and also help your control in situations like your lockup. Watch your hands during your recovery again, and you will see where you could improve there.
I can also applaud something you did right. When you made you pass attempt, you braked MUCH later. You were even entering off line, and you still managed to get around the corner, bravo. Ask yourself why you don't brake that late everytime. If you did it once, you can do it every lap. If you are on line, ready for it, and ease into the brakes as solo-X suggested, you will be able to pull it off and significantly improve in the braking zone. With as much power as your car has you will be passing people all day.

Chris,
Thanks for the info... Hands and braking seem to be things to work on. Hands will be easy. I really just need to trust that the car will slow when I break deeper.
I will say that on my last race I did improve on my braking. Over all I was able to bring my times down a full second.
Thank you all for the help!!!!
Always striving to be a better driver.
