How To remove FACTORY OIL FILTER?!?!
I been tryin for 2 hours now and cant seem to get it off. I been to the auto store 3 times buyin filter wrenches and still i cant get it off. I bought the strap type, and the one that fits over the filter like a giant wrench still i cant get it off.The car is sittin In my driveway with a hole in the filter because i tried the puttin a screwdriver method through it. The stupid factory always puts these filters on extreamly tight. Anyboy have any suggestion that will help me get it off?
Yeah, while the car is jacked up take off the passenger side wheel. Its much more accessible from there. Then slide a filter wrench in there and your set. Thats what i did and it was cake, no problems at all.
same thing happened to me......spent $25 on all these oil wrenches and **** and couldn't get it to go.....took it to a local shop and they even had trouble getting it off.....took them 20 mins
I do civics everyday at work, the first oil change is always the hardest cuz everything is on so damn tight, do the wheel method (if you have an si) if you have a regular one i dunno what to tell you, the filter is right there. we use the honda oil filter wrench, works like a champ.

Too bad you put a hole through it or you could let the car run a few minutes to get it warm. They always come off easier when the block is hot. I have a set of channel locks - not the standard kind, but made for pipe, that I use when things get out of hand. That usually does the job.
I finally got the **** off with a good steel strap wrench, just beware, if your doing it youself for the 1st time you will need the right tool. I was lucky because i can barely get the strap wrench on because the filter is kinda flush with the underbody.
yeah my first oil change was a pain. I think they have a giant gorilla put them on at the factory. I wrapped mine in a rubber pad thats used to open jars, and with a lot of grunting and swearing it came off.
for si this works great if you have a ratchet a long extension a swivel socket and a adjustable filter wrench you can go thru the hole just above the tie rod and it will come off easily
