Default **UPDATED**CRX, no crank, loss of power...HELP URGENT!!!

I've got an'89 CRX hf drag car that had no harness in it when I got it. I just put a '89 dx harness (already dpfi to mpfi) into it. The problem is that when I turn the key to 'ON' the ecu flashes as if it is getting power (no codes btw), but when I try to start the engine it does nothing at all! No crank, no clicking, no nothing!!! Then I turn the key off and then back on, but now there isn't any beeping or power to the ecu (no initial flash)!!!

I'm very confused as to what is happening. Everything is connected as far as I know (plugs, grounds, etc.) So what could cause this???

1. Dead battery? (edit...tested good)
2. bad starter solenoid?(edit...tested bad and put new one in, still no cranking)
3. ECU?
4. Grounds or sensors?

I'm clueless!!

Thanks in advance!!!
ERIK

????. what engine do u have on it if its a drag car. do ur lights on ur dash light up?
check ur battery poles for corrosion. they might look ok. but a lot os those times they fool u in making u believe there making correct contact. if ur battery is relocated to the back.. check the wires that run to ur starter. do u hear ur fuel pump primer.. be more specific in what it does when u hit the key. plz.

This might sound odd, but i'm still reppin' the D! its a sohc ZC non-vtec w/greddy kit.
I'm also running a fuel cell and MSD inline pump which is not using the stock fuel pump wiring. Also, I don't have a guage cluster anymore, just boost, oil press., and water temp guages. its OBD0 with a ZDYNE SECU pm6.

BTW, the ecu, motor, battery, and harness came out of my dx street car that ran great previously.

And like I said, when I push in on the clutch and try to start the car, it does nothing, as if the car has no power!

BUT, if I take the ecu fuse out of the engine bay fuse box, (and the key is turned on), it will start beeping again and I can turn the car on and off just fine (but still no crank).

I'M LOST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Um, thats your issue. You used a DX harness.

First rule of swap, always use the stock harness and modify it.

*update*

today I had the starter and battery tested. The battery was good, but the starter was shot. I replaced the starter with a spare that tested good, but the car still does the same things.

I also tested the ign. switch with a continuity tester like the manual said and it too is good. Then I went through and tested all of the grounds and they were also good.

both fuse boxes are getting power, the ecu has power, the dizzy, starter solenoid, and coil all have power too. wtf???

Even the main relay is good too!!!

please help!!!

sh*t man. way to many variables to pinpoint ur problem man. but even if ur engine wont start. it stil should crank. checkthe electrical first.

ok. first, u gott to have ur engine to crank. if ur started is bad then replace it.il get one of a junkyard.the ideais to get ur engine to spin. looks like u got the dizzy sum electricity, thats good. now check if ur getting fuel preassure. get a rag and uplug the fuel line that goes to the fuel filter to see if it squirts out. use the rag to sorround the line so it wont go all over the place.just turn ur swich on and the fuel pump should start priming. if ur ecu is getting power and u made sure all ur injectors are correctly pluged along with other sensors, and getting sufficient fuel preassure. ur engine should start. like isaid even ifur ecu is fried ur engine should still crank. but what im concerned about is if ur fuel pump primes correctly with ur setup. once u get it to crank check if u got spark fuel ect, andtrouble shoot it from there. if u trhow any cell codes i got the manualso just ask away.

Ok thanks, but check this out! I was working on the car tonight trying to figure this bug out and I turned on the fuel pump, let it prime, and jumped the starter terminals with the key "ON" and the car fired up and ran great, no codes!!! WOOT!! WOOT!! While the car was running I decided to see if the ign switch would shut the car off and it does!! Although, I still can't start the car with the ign switch.

I need to check the starter relay to see if that is the problem (which I think it is), but i'm not too sure!!!

Any other ideas or is the starter relay for sure the only possibility???

BTW, this is a drag car w/a 1gal fuel cell and inline pump wired to a switch!

Thanks!!

hahaha nice! check the litle wire that hooks up to the starter. idk whats it called but it closesthe circuiton the starter so it can have direct contct with the battery.the starter should have 3 wires. +,- and the wire that comes from ur ignition swich. btw im glad u got ur det up running. i knowhow u feel.

I know what ur talking about, but i've already tried that tonight and still no crank when useing the switch!

Any other ideas? Is it possible that it could be the starter relay? Thats the only other thing that I can think of!

BTW, thanks for the suggestions
