Not that I'm aware of yet. Mainly because there's no VIP aero like NOBLESSE, etc. that's available here now that'll fit w/o a full front/rear JDM conversion. Not saying no one can do it, but the conversion costs $$, so it's gonna be rare for a while. Still, I'm sure it's just a matter of time.

Yeah, it's a sweet ride. NOBLESSE seems held in pretty high regards when it comes to Fit/Odyssey owners in Japan. Here's a link to their website in English if you want more pics:

http://www.club-miniban.com/e_new_hyousi.htm

Cool thing about them is that they also have a Fit setup for strictly circuit racing, and it does pretty well. Here's a vid of it running w/ an NSX. Does damn good except for the straights.

Anyway, it'd be nice to see some similar USDM VIP's done in the near future.

Dont mean to blow everyones wad, BUT it is a rare day in Japan to see a Honda VIP rolling around, I know you have seen lots of PICs but thats it. I love this website and I know Hondas are the bomb in the US but they dont have the rep over here, they are not designed for stop and go driving in the crowded areas here, one reason why I didnt get into selling parts on this site.

GO HONDA GO FIT

PS, wasn't the MACH 5 a Honda????????????

Mmm, I don't think you're gettin' around enough then. They may not be quite as common as Toyota and Nissan or even Suzuki, but they're far from rare. I had two badass Aerodeck's just within a couple of blocks of my house in Osaka, and I can point you to a number of owner's sites for Fit's and Odyssey's. Sapporo had it's fair share too, particularly cruising around Suskino and Shiroishi.

Don't worry about this guy's comment. He is an old guy that doesn't care about performance/tuning. I have never seen him out here at events or meets. What does selling parts on this site and "Hondas aren't designed for stop and go driving in the crowded areas here" have to do with anything??? LOL
VIP compacts are all over Japan. I guess not on the military base

Actually I said I dont sell parts on this site or any site, I am too busy fixing Hondas to have time to send parts to the US or anywhere to help you fix Hondas.

Heavy duty driving like here in Tokyo really puts a burden on these cars, Japanese people know this also, out of the big three here Honda is at the bottom unlike in the US, dont get me wrong there Gus, I love Honda as much as the next guy, they keep me in stitches and so does everything else over here, that is why I stayed.

I am not that old but maybe old enough to be old to you. I have read on this site that it was mandatory for Japanese to change their engines after like 40K Km, that is why they are so available in the US for JDM engines, the fact is Japanese dont want to keep their cars that long and it goes straight to the Junk yard in most cases if it doesnt get exported. Used car lots are everywhere here too but they stay full.

Dont get me wrong, I enjoy this site and I dont mind getting flamed but unless you fix cars here then get a clue, JDM cars are not built to spec of USDMs and in the big city it is considered severe driving and interference engines just dont hang as well, hence, all the work I get.

I dont just love Honda because they are junk, far from it, they are not junk, but I am with you, they are great, they are just greater in the US, I worked on them there too so unless you can come hang with me here then maybe we both can get a clue from each others comments.

MOTO: with 220 posts and over a year on this site shouldnt you have had time to find something better than noob to display by your name. No offence to true noobs, keep joining. Why dont you tell the Americans how much a machine shop costs here to do a 3 angle valve job or to get a mom and pop paint job compared to an average priced US State job of equal workmanship.

Hi Duane. Wanted to stay on topic but let me start off by apologizing to you and let me reply to the below:

[QUOTE=Duane_in_Japan]Actually I said I dont sell parts on this site or any site, I am too busy fixing Hondas to have time to send parts to the US or anywhere to help you fix Hondas.

-OK so it sounds like you are a mechanic then. Sorry for my generalization that Americans in the Tachikawa area are military or military related.

-I really don't consider Tachikawa Tokyo but I understand what you mean about Honda's position in Japan. It wasn't until around 10 years ago or so that if you picked up a Car Sensor it was in order: Toyota/Nissan/Mazda/Honda. Finally Honda passed Mazda and it is now listed at #3.

-Sorry for my generalization of you being old from 1) your writing and 2)the fact that I have never met you before at any Honda oriented car meets. I should be able to recognize an American looking person if you were out at the meets. As for the 40k thing you know as much as I know that this is BS. First cars go to the junk yard (for a reason) then get exported (i.e. nose cuts, front cuts, half cuts). I really don't understand the generalization of Japanese not wanting to keep there cars over 40k km. But that is your opinion.

Dont get me wrong, I enjoy this site and I dont mind getting flamed but unless you fix cars here then get a clue, JDM cars are not built to spec of USDMs and in the big city it is considered severe driving and interference engines just dont hang as well, hence, all the work I get.

-Unlike you I am not a mechanic and do not fix cars here (in Japan). I am an enthusiast that has been in the whole hashiriya scene since the late 80s. I really don't understand the rest of what you mention here about JDMs not built to the spec of USDMs, etc. I always thought JDM specs were better than USDM, but then again I am not a mechanic.

I dont just love Honda because they are junk, far from it, they are not junk, but I am with you, they are great, they are just greater in the US, I worked on them there too so unless you can come hang with me here then maybe we both can get a clue from each others comments.

-I really don't understand how Honda is greater in the US scene. Yes it blew up in the mid to late 90s, but now it has simmered down to enthusiasts that like Honda for what it is, very much like here in Japan. I see ITRs and CTRs daily here. Just as much as Odysseys and Fits done up VIP style with bodykits and dish style rims.

-Sorry about the NOOB display. As a token of my apology I will change it for you. Machine shops that do good work in no particular order: Diamond Boring, Kondoh Nainenki, Naprec, and JUN's Machine Shop. I don't know what you mean by mom and pop paint jobs 1) ghetto cheap bodyshops and request for a "pabuki" is around 100,000yen up (roughly $800 up) or 2) decent quality job at a shop that takes their time (bankinya's I deal with) for a decent "allpen" is around 250,000yen up (around $2000 up). I feel that these prices are comparable to what I hear about the US. So I really don't understand your point.

I wanted to just stay on topic by mentioning the fact that I see daily Odysseys, Step Wagons, SMX's and Fits (not as much as Bb's) with kits and dish style rims done up in a VIP inspired themes

Moto-hashiriya,

I think it took a real man to appologize like you have, appology accepted.

I am a serious technician but I am no Guru, I am not in to lets call it "an enthusiest" of things like VIP and so on like yourself but I respect your hobbies and dreams and of everyone on this site.

I really want to help folks on this site, which I try to help more on this site than on any other site of a dozen that I visit monthly, I have an excel spreadsheet that tells me what to do 5 nights a week to better my skills and to try to help others with my skills, again not perfect. You are correct, I dont have much of a life outside of being a technician, I love doing hands on work and electronic diagnosis the best.

The few times I have taken the time to visit a car show or a trade show I would have gone on a different day than yourself, you would go in with the public and I would get a preview as a shop owner. I think we visit different types of shows also. (mostly)

I am open to a show where we could meet and shake hands sometime if that is kewl with you but honestly it is difficult for me to get away. If I said something to offend you in the last post then I too, appologize to you publically here on this great site.

Tachikawa is not downtown, I admit that but it does say Tokyo on my mailbox. I really hate it when people say they are from the city when they arent even in the subburbs. I have been here for about 12 years and have a few yet to go, thinking about college in a few years, will get some free money to spend then. Yes I may even be the oldest guy there.

Are you anti-military my friend, have you done any time to serve your country, if not, then its ok by me. The 40K thing came from a seriously written post from this site to talk up how reliable JDM engines should be in the US but the post was BS (mostly). As a tech I have seen that Japan uses their on people as guiney pigs to test out a new system on these cars for awhile before they put that system on export models to the US, sometimes its a bad thing and it gets changed to an updated version, hence, these cars are not always up to spec but it is also a good idea to work out the bugs here and save face to other countries. Better in the US, look at the bluebook sometime, consumer ratings also, that tells the whole story. Mom and pop, not the dealer or a serious shop, most whole car paint jobs, same color, 3 grand in my experience, no real body work either. JUN build your engine, better save your 1 yen coins up for that one. There was a shop just up the road in Saitama, Iruma and they wanted $800 to do a $100 (US) valve job.

My personal e mail is attached to my name somewhere on this site, feel free, lets quit the bickering, agreed. By the way, you mentioned you could tell my age from my writtings, how so???
