i have a 91 civic si and i was wanting to put a sohc vtec in it... i was just wondering how much this whole process would cost and swap and all. i kno its not going to be too much money.(i just need a motor to hold me over until i get back from deployment and i can get a all motor beast)
well for a d16z6 complete longblock the run maybe 400-500 sometimes even with tranny it depends. as far as i no they bolt on to the crx and civic and you can use any d series tranny but to save you the hassel stay with the si cable tranny its a great tranny and there a dime a dozen. next you have to convert to obd1 i would say to convert because then the vtec engine would take advantage of the ecu and would run better and have better potential since there's also better programs out there for those ecu's. or you can just buy a vtec controller to run vtec and stay ob0
as for all motor its going to cost a pretty penny to do so. but dont let any of these b-series fan boys get you down. i personally would go with a super charge set-up or even turbo because its been proven many times that a built turbo or even a sc d are great cars and fun rides so you decide.
ill prolly just buy the complete motor seein my block is shot but i guess ill use my tranny and just get a new clutch.... i dont plan on keepin this motor i wanna go k series but if i like it enough i guess i might keep it and see what i can do.
