Default need some realistic infor and point of views

whats up guys, i have a 89 civic hb, with a built b16a in it, when i say built i mean, oversized wiseco 11.5:1 pistons, treated stock rods, balanced and micropolished crank, port and polished head, supertech valve springs, supertech retainers, buddy club spec 3+ cams set at 0 right now, aebs intake manifold, throttle body by the same company who makes the aebs intake, its a 68mm and the intake inlet was 65 so i port matched them, um injen intake, and hytech header meant for the 1.8 block, and tanabe catback and omni power 2.5" test pipe, and a spoon ecu (obd0 pwo) and vafc. sounds good and all i know, but my times suck ***. what could be the problem? where am i going wrong? do i have too much of one thing and not enough somewhere else? i thought this was a balanced set up. i know having a y1 (long geared) tranny isnt helping but still it should be running faster than what it is. please some insight and help. thanx guys.

1. y1 isn't a long geared transmission. Its middle o f the road. Now, the LS is long geared.

2. Aftermarket rods aren't necessary in most naturally aspirated setups, despite what you've read on HT and Stooper Street.

3. My money is on tuning. A "Spoon" ecu and a vafc? Sounds like a recipe for trouble.

davens whys that? why does it sound like a recipe for trouble? its an authentic spoon ecu. not no ebay chipped bullshit.,

times are 15:6 is the best, driver me, skill pretty decent. this is a long geared jdm trans compared to the s1, j1 , and ys1 for this car

you need the car tuned with something better. You probably have an engine that runs way off of what it should. A spoon ECU is not tuned for your car, its tuned for their car. You will get a lot out of being able to control timing too.

I know you think an authentic spoon ecu is better than a copy...but thats not the case.
The Spoon ecu is tuned for a very specific Spoon engine setup...cam profiles, combustion ratios, intake/exhaust volume and flow etc etc. Needless to say, its not the same as your engine. So regardless of the ecu's authenticity or performance in Spoon's application, its simply a bad choice for your engine. And then you add a vafc to the mix...which could make things better, or without qualified tuning, much worse.

To start, I would get on a dyno with someone qualified to tune your components (vafc and adj cam gears). But if they can't get things dialed in, they might want to start with a less extreme ecu/base.
Or an even better starting point, consider a truly customized ecu like Turbo-edit or even some of the obd-1 variants, maybe even Hondata.

You can stay obd-0...you just need to verify that your setup is dialed in.
Get it on a dyno and verify it is putting out power capable of going faster than a mid 15.
If its not...figure out why. Spend some time tuning/adjusting what you've already got.
If it is...figure out why you're not turning that power in to faster times. Traction, reaction speeds, etc etc.

The Spoon ECU is killing you. VAFC is pointless if you have the right ECU setup and tune. If you want control, get AEM EMS.

What do you have for wheels/tires? Suspension?

Well in that case I would say it's your ECU. It's the brain of the car so if you don't have what you need, it's like having a retard operate a Ferrari.
