Anyways the gun should be held parallel to the surface. Also make sure your pattern is a full fan. Keep your speed and distance the same the entire time. All I have to say is practice.

also, tuning the gun is key...but hes right about the 50 percent overlap...u might also be too close to the surface making it really concentrated...so possibly you might wanna pull the gun away from the surface a little more, then you can see what the fan is covering helping you do a better overlap.

Well I got the over lap down, and the hood game out good, but the rest of the car came out ruff. Not shiny at all. I am going to wet sand it with like 1000 and work my way up to see if I can smooth it out.

Its hard to say what is causing the ruffness, without seeing it. But what it most likely is, is not enough air pressure or spraying to far away from the surface.
