i know i have to pull the whole gear assembly upwards to put the c-clip back in its place but everytime i try to nudge it up it doesn't go high enough, i've tried so many things... am i doing something wrong? is something hitting against something. i know that when i try to put it on i need a few mm's higher to go to get the c-clip on... if anyone has any type of suggestions or pictures i would greatly appreciate it... i need to figure this out asap...

Put a block of wood under the input shaft and then lower the case on it. The case should stand off the table a bit. When you open up the c-clip slightly the input shaft will move up and the c-clip will drop into the groove.

thats the problem its not goin low enough for the cclip to actually go on the groove... i nudge the whole shaft upwards and it doesn't wanna go high enough for it to sit...
Turn the transmission upside-down. If that doesn't do it, then drop it on something soft from a couple inches up.
turn it upside down
thats what i did after staring at it in confusion for two hours and trying to think of what i did wrong.

ok ive turned it upside down.dropped it from a few inches and still falling short by the smallest margin. Could the c clip be ruined?

Is the clip at least started around the bearing's outer race? There should be ~1/2" gap between the ends.
