hi... i recently supposedly had my igniter fail... so i got new distributor cheap from a friend that work at an auto supplier. i got a new cap and i used the same rotor.. put everything on right.. turn the key, car comes on for about 20 seconds.. reving high... lil bit of white smoke smelling like gas come out the exhaust, and the car turns off. try turin it on again... car turns on, then turns right off...let the car sit for an hour, car does the same thing... car doesnt have a chance to evn warm up. this sounds like something really stupid... anyone have any ideas?

ignition switch? well heres a another lil tid bit.. when the car was on for those few seconds, it was like making a muffled pop noise and the rpms where jumpin a lil during... still sound like what u said?

 

So it ran fine before the ignitor problem so you replaced the dizzy and now it runs worse? I'd try a nother Dizzy just to see if you have the same problem...if you have fuel comping out the exhaust then check to see if you plugs are fouling or whats up somethin ignition related...and if not I'll come over and buy the car off your hands for $5.00
