Default Planned project - thoughts/suggestions/tech help

Ok, few months back my EJ1 went for a swim, it's been fixed up save a few minor PITA last problems but the MPG are good, HP seems fine, compression test is decent for the age of the engine. In the next month or so I may be getting a family hand-down from my father-in-law of a '96 CX Hatch.

Here's what I'm thinking, merging the coupe and the hatch into one ugly bastard step-child. Put the D16Z6 (150k miles)/tranny/ECU/etc into the EK, taking the time to gut the engine and tranny and reassemble after cleaning and lubing everything. PS and A/C will be tossed from the EJ, as well as cruise and the other power options.

Now, what other parts should I or WILL I need to look at swapping to make this effective. As well, is this even a worthwhile swap, considering I'm not going out to buy a new engine/tranny/etc? My main reason behind this, eventually the fact that the EJ1 was submerged will cause some issues with the electrical system. If I downsize the trim level that may help, going into the EK, and the engine/tranny are working fine after the fluid changes etc.

So... how bad does this sound? The long term plan if this happens would be to boost the D16Z6 while in the EK and keep it as a partial DD/hobbycar. Thoughts? or
