I just bought 98 ls motor with 52,000 miles...when i start it up in the morning after its been sitting all night it knocks for like 2 seconds...but it sounds like as soon as it gets oil to the head it stops....it runs fine and sounds great all day...it just happens on a truly cold startup. Is my oil pump going out???is this normal for ls motors???

you should get alittle valve tap on start up in a cold day

 

it should always knock because not much oil is in the top of the motor so the oil return line kicks in about 1 to 2 seconds after start up, or something like that

 

What kind of fuel are you using?

 

i use just regular unleaded
