Default Mystery Light?!?!?

So my tail lights are from a Lexus IS 300 on my 97 Honda Civic. However they came on the car when I bought it and they were put in with some type of foam and it looks like crap. Also the wiring is questionable. There is one light at the bottom I have no idea what it does. I was trying to figure out what it's for. Also the way the lights were mounted in the car it sticks out of the side?!?

Any sugestions on what or how to wire the mystery light, and how to better mount the lights. Thanks!

Lexus IS 300 lights

The Mystery light ???

Can I just attach those wires to those?

It sticks out of the side SO TACKY!

The crappy mounting job

What would be the best way to fix the foam issue? Scrape it all out? and yes the reverse lights work, I guess that's just an extra set. I supposed I can wire it to the ones that already work?

They're not EXTRA reverse lights, they ARE the correct reverse lights.

Damn. Talk about a pitiful, ghetto-rigged disaster in the back of that car. I'd have laughed my *** off at the guy who owned the car before you followed by me walking away in another fit of laughter.

What ones "already work"? The ones you circled are the only reverse lights on the car, so I'm not sure which other lights you're referring to.

word, those are definatley the reverse lights..

I'd replace 'em with OEM honda and sell those, but whatever u do it's ur call, I wouldn't waste time trying to retrofit them into a honda..but if u truely wanted to you'd have to mill down the inside panneling so it can go in further... Blah, it'll take a lot of fab but I guess it has potential to look good.......

I guess...

welll.. people do a lot of rhd conversions these days.. there must be alot of extra rear clips kicking around... get one and then just switch everything over

Ya i finished putting my camber kit on today and i was checking out the light situation. True the mounting job is messed up but I only payed 4K for the car and it's a 97 Civic with a H22 motor, so it was a pretty good deal with all the extra sound system stuff that came with it. Anyways, it is a work in progress and texas doesn't require reverse lights so i'm not sweatin it. It'd just be cool if they worked. I read that you can't just wire them in. You have to put it on a special wire that comes from the transmission that tells the light when it's in reverse? I know nothing about that. I think the lights from the IS 300 look good on there, it does need some body work though. I think a body shop should be able to mount them on there the right way. The guy who owned the car before me did everything himself and totally did everything half assed. I wanted a fix up car though, i guess i got what i asked for. I don't really drive this car so I can afford to just owrk on it every now and then.
