In search of engine options for a '92 CX
I have a '92 CX with a cracked head and/or block from overheating.
My shop is having a heck of a time finding a replacement.
Do I need an exact match? If the engine is not an exact match does any of the wiring, controls, ECU or whatever need to be changed?
The shop has had my car for 2 months and have rejected 4 engines as "the wrong one."
I am getting desperate.
I am not worried about power, just want to have a reliable car again.

Dang. I just pulled one of those motors (D15Y8 8-valve from 94 CX) and have it sitting in my garage wasting space. Too bad I live way far away from you...
Tell us what are the codes stamped on the two replacment motors you do have & we can tell how to make them run in your car (need more info)...

I JUST got off the phone with the shop and the claim they finally have the correct engine in the building.
If it does not turn to be so I will be in touch. Las Vegas is not that far from me.
I know the "wrong" engines have been returned.
Will report later.

now would be a great time to upgrade to a sohc vtec engine. d16z6 d16y8 even a d16y7 non vtec engine. you can find engine tranny and ecu's for d series for 400-800 usd which is most likely about the same as what they are paying for the cx engine
