quick noobie question
it makes your tranny spin both wheels at the same time instead of just having one driving wheel like most hondas, which in turn gives you better launches/control/etc..
i'm pretty sure lsd helps with turning no launching. when turning lsd gives more power to the outside tire so you turn faster and with more control. I think?

im pretty sure youre wrong...no i am sure...youre incorrect...Both wheels spinning means more traction...traction is a part of launching

correct, although they have different types of LSD's for different setup, drag, road race,

doesn't posi-trak make both wheels spin at the same time? So on the road racing lsd more power goes to the outside tire? I'm almost positive that is what lsd is.

Makes mine act like it's on drugs. Once, I was going about 90, and the ecu had a flashback from the day before when I overrevved it.

I have a Quaife LSD in my GSR and obviously the facory LSD in my ITR. They for one make both tires turn evenly under accereration and when turning, it sends the correct amount of power to the outer tire in the turn allowing you to get on the gas sooner and have improved traction in the turn.

Is there a difference between then two?

Here, read this Wikipedia entry and this article in howstuffworks. Together, they tell you everything you ever wanted to know about a limited slip.

I recommend a 55-shot of lsd.

^^^ I'm in on this question as well. Both the ITR and the Quaife LSDs are helical Torsen style differentials. Hell, Quaife was no help when I made my decision. (Read my Quaife exchange thread.) Which one do you think performs better?
To the OP, an LSD will help both with cornering and launching. I noticed more of a difference with cornering. I am running the ITR LSD.

I have seen an OEM fail, I have had my Quaife since 01 now and it is really the only thing that has not broken on my car since. I have been through 2 Trannys, 3 Motors and about everything else you could throw at it and its still going strong, its a little loose from metal shavings getting ground in it but after I switch out gearsets here soon, its going back for a rebuild
For a budget I would definately consider the OEM LSD, but if you want the best get the Quaife. They basically do exactly the same thing.
