Default d16 head question

I recently replaced the head gasket on my d16z6, everything went fine except for one thing. After I bolted everything back together I looked on the floor and saw one of the metal dowel pins that keep the head/block lined up laying there. Instead of tearing the head back off would it hurt anything to run the engine without this dowel?

Thanks for your help

Yes that needs to be in there. With out it the head may not be lined up correctly or could shift.
