Never heard the sound, But I would assume something is wrong with the starter.

If it's not cranking over, it's def related to the starter though.
Power, and ground hooked up to it right still?

Was that 99si starter Brand new?

holy **** i had that happen to me.. the starter clicks because the battery have a low voltage to turn it over.. check ur lights.. beep the horn.. if all that works.. then you know u have low volts in the battery..

its definately the starter..

do a rolling start if the car is a manual.. let it run for about 10mins turn if off and than on it will work..

thats what i did in my 95 acura ls

why don't u just turn the key to the on position leave car in nuetral.. have somebody push it for you. and when u gain momeutum.. push in clutch.. shift into 1st and pop clutch out.. that should get u started.. if the car is facing downhill thats even better..

no it doesn;t the battery voltage is just low.. its not enuff power to activate the soleniods which in turns spin the flywheel in the starter.. to turn the flywheel in the engine a couple of revolution to start the car..

this happened to me before what i did.. was jumpstart it let the car run for 10mins so it could be fully charged up.. next day went out with a digital multimeter and it read 12.6v

baaah bahhh bahhh baahhhh

sounds like you need a jump start at the least

i would just get a new battery if it's been over 5 years. that's honda recommended brother.

i didn't drive my car for a week, i had to jump start it to get it going. after driving it for a while (lets say 30 miles for 35 minutes because i usually let the car warm up too), the car wouldn't start again. i asked my friend to give me a jump since i was at church. i drove it down to my business (lets say 25 miles for 30 minutes), the car ended up not starting there either.

sometimes, it's just TIME to change the battery. it's not suppose to last forever. so if one day, out of the blue, your car decides just not to start, it's time for a new battery. it's not that expensive anyways, 65 bucks max at an auto store, and they give you core credit. for best pricing on a battery, go to costco. they have the most CCA's for the penny.

honda does recommend a new battery every 3 years.

i'm pretty sure it's not the starter and it's just the battery. a jump start will start the car.

that sounds like the starter spinning w/o the solenoid pushing the gear into the flywheel, hit the starter w/ a piece of wood see if it helps.

then if that doesnt work...

just jump the battery w/ the hatch

well, usually when a battery doesnt have enough juice to spin the starter it has a single CLICK (which is the starter solenoid pushing the gear into the flywheel) and nothing.

in this case it sounds like the starter is spinning, but not turning the flywheel.

smack the starter w/ a piece of wood a few times and try. had this problem in the families old cavalier.

it's your starter. sounds like the gear grinding on your flywheel.
