Default overheating problem 91 civic Si

well this is what happened today= +=+++=i started my car that is currently my project its a 91 civic Si/ZC, well anyways i started it and after ill say 10-15 minutes i see vapor coming out of the overflow container and it looked like the bottle was almost full of coolant,,---- it was empty before i started the car? i cant tell when my car is hot because my gauges do not work inside on my cluster can anyone help me with that also i put a DX cluster in because the Si one got all messed up from previous owner thinking he knew evrything, my speedometer dosnt work either, or my TEMP gauge!. WELL NOW NOTHING WORKS the gas gauge might work it seems like it moves ? what should i do with all of this? Anything i can look at to fix my gauge problems

are your coolant lines ran correctly? theres a bleeder thing on the thermostat, is that on the top or on the bottom when you installed it if you even replaced it?

im going to go ahead and say you have a bad headgasket. "vapor coming out of the overflow container and it looked like the bottle was almost full of coolant" means that your pushing the coolant out from a leak in the headgasket...it happened to me

can u post pics of how the coolant lines are suppose to be? and the top hose hose semmed like there was air going out and sounded like bubbles going towards the radiator?

could also be the radiator cap

& yes my cap was doing the same thing & booom it was just the cap

ill try changing the radiator cap tomorrow when theres light! i do remember taking the original cap off and putting this jdm dented one i found at a bone yard he he...

i had the same problem as u... but mine got bad when i was in traffic once and then the cap on my over flow poped off... it turned out being my thermostat

to replace or remove the thermo.

1. follow the bottom radiator hose back to the block.
depeneding on ur engine its a WATER NECK.
has i think 3 bolts havent changed mine in a while.
take the hose off then the neck and bam lil sucker is in there.
test it. in boiling water see if it opens if not go pick one up 5 bucks.

HEY GUYS i think i fixed the problem HE HE....... I changed my radiator cap and the tube that goes to the overflow tank!!!!!! i had my car on for about 20-30 min and nothing happened YAY>>>>>>>>>>>----now with my cluster problem? time for new thread!

told you lol to bad I had to over heat a d16a6 to find out

oh well I just ended up buying a sohc zc instead of fixing the blown head gasket
