Default Performance effected by a tank of gas?

I took my new ITR out today for some spirited driving, during the drive I stopped and got 10 worth of 93 octane gas. This filled that tank approx 3/4th of the way full. I then when out for a few more spirited runs down some of my favorite back roads and i immediatly noticed a reduction in acceleration. It seemed like the car wouldn't "Wined Up" as fast. The only thing that I could figure is that the extra weight of the gas was effecting the acceleration of the car. I dont know what gas weighs per gallon, but I figure what like 3lbs? So 10.00 worth of gas at roughtly 1.60 a gallon would be 6.26 gallons, times 3lbs would be 18.75 pounds, which should not make a noticable difference, which leaves me wondering. Mabey all ITR suffer from a decrease in acceleration? Not likely. Mabey I just thought I felt a decrease in acceleration, quite possible. Oh well, I guess ill just have to go out and drive that tank of gas out of the car. Mabey a bad tank of gas? I was on fumes when I put the gas in the car, so mabey it was crap gas? Any thoughts would be appricated. Also, I have noticed that sometimes the car doesnt want to go into first gear, any others with this issue? I thought I should just drain the tranny fluid and put some new fluid in it? Thanks guys

Gas is about 7 lbs per gallon FWIW

Wearther change might also do it.

i think the first gear and reverse problem is common with all itrs........sometimes mine won't go into 1st so i put it in second and then it slides right in to first

wow, 7lbs per gallon? That much? I was basing my guesstament on what a gallon of milk feels like, but I could be way off there as well. I took the car out for another spin, and it feels better. I think it was just my imagination. Thanks for the help though. Also, I have noticed that I cannot seen to drive the car anyother way that full on throttel all the time, I just got the oil changed, and I feel like I should get it changed next week because of all the rough driving I do to the car. Am I being ****, or do I need to change the oil like every 1000 miles. Keep in mind I have not been able just to cruise, the car just keeps urging me on to push it harder and harder.

Less is better obviously (to a point). Maybe a bad batch of gas?

When it sticks, just push gently and let the clutch out slow. It will pop right in.

My brother only fills his GSR to 1/4 full at the most due to the weight effect. I notice the difference also but fill my ITR to 1/2 way as I can't be bothered stopping for gas every 2 days

The other downside of stopping for gas is that your engine bay will heat up a bit and sap performance until things have cooled down again. I think I saw something on the Hondata site that shows you need 20 seconds of full throttle to cool down the intake mainifold.

And yes I get the 1st gear issue also.. And so does the example of DC5R (Aust/NZ DM) that I drove.

Cheers,

David.
