I have no idea about the specifics of the ECU... But since Spoon only tunes n/a cars, the maps on their ECUs are optimized for n/a motors - i.e: advanced ignition timing and agresive fuel maps - both of which are bad on forced induction cars.

The Spoon program was programmed for N/A use only. The timing maps and fuel maps are alittle more agressive as well as the extended rev limit to 8500 rpm and Removal of the speed limit. Its a really good program. It is also the Ver.4 Program. I personally have a real authenic Spoon P13 in my possession. We also offer this program.

Ive dynoed the difference before on a JDM H22a with intake,Dc Header and Ultraflow exhuast. We noticed a 3 to 4 hp increase throughout the powerband. One of these days ill post up a dyno sheet I dont recommend revving that high unless you have the proper valvetrain and cams. We notice a drop of Hp after 7200 rpms with stock cams. With a better header then the DC and larger cams you would beable to take advantage of that 8500 rpm. A better single runner intake manifold would also make a difference.

The vtec changeover point is at 5000 rpm.

5k is decent, my stock JDM p13 is 5200 or so, and it pulls fine, but spoon was smart to set it lower, as vtec hits wayy too hard. (to make it smoother, it needs to go lower...)

Ive seen the best results setting the vtec changeover point around 4700 to 4800 rpm. This is of course with stock h22a cams.

prospeed: I am in dire need of advise. I have a SS prelude with an extensive list of mods done (cams, headwork, all the bolt on's) And i really need an extended redline. I tried to run a 98 gsr ecu, because in the helms manual the SS prelude has and extra box wired to the ecu (thinking it controls the tranny). The car started and idled with the gsr ecu, but the "D4" light was blinking, i didnt want to damage the trannny. I got a new idea of possibly running a Hondata tuned auto LS ecu that has been modified to VTEC specs, as they describe on their website now. i emailed them but they have not gotten back to me yet. Let me know what you think.

I am a Hondata dealer and we dont offer any upgrades for the auto ecus. I Don't have any auto programs. The best thing i can recommend is going with the JDM Auto p13 ecu. That would allow you to run your ecu without triggering the auto lock up solinoid light and the blinking d4. The blinking d4 is for troubleshooting the tranny. The gsr i suspect is not an auto gsr is it? I have a JDM auto gsr ecu if you are interested. Let me know. Thanks hope that helps!
