My drivers rear 1/4 is already rusted pretty bad, here is a pic...
Outside

Inside

now i plan on taking the car to a body shop and having it fixed.
Now here is the passenger side, there is no rust on the outside, but on the inside it has a little bit starting to form.

what can i do to stop it from getting as bad as the drivers side?

i believe they have a primer that is supposed to prevent rust. so if you ever get it repainted ask them about it
hate to say it, but id have both sides done.
its awesome that you noticed it before it started to show on the painted side, however nothing will stop it from coming through in time.
rust is the cancer of cars, it kind of sucks.
on the bright side there should be less work to do on that side having caught it early....
some paint companies make automotive primers and paints that claim to stop rust. but by its nature it should spread no matter what...
EDIT ^^^^^ beat me to it. lol

yes they do have a primer for that. but like i told all my clients if you can see rust then its already ate away at the metal.
the pass. side will still have to be sanded down just like the driver side.(it may even have to have replacement panels..idk)
then you can spray with ethcing primer....the driver side is going to have to have replacement metal put in, then bondo/fiberglassed smooth.

well it looks like it is rusting from the inside out, the pass side looks like its just surface rust now, i was thinking i can sand it from the inside and put some kind of coating on it.
