Default Timing Belt Tension.

Exactly how tight does the T belt need or not need to be ?

I did the auto to manual conversion some time ago. I just now am starting to get some weird *** whining noise that i suspect is the T belt being over tensioned.

if its whining its too tight, it needs to have little or no slack at all

I noticed that mine has been making that whining noise as well, should I loosen it or will it just go away in time?

The timing belt should be as tight as the spring attached to the adjustment idler pully makes it. That's it's purpose. The whinning may be the idler pully bearing.

I just picked up the rest of my tools from my old house, so ill just pop the crank pully off and losen it up and reset the tensioner.

Taking the crank pulley and the cover off really isnt necessary.

Just get the trusty 14mm closed wrench out and pop the main bolt lose, push on the belt a little, maybe rotate a little bit on the crank, and lock it back down. problem solved.
