Default I am new here.. CRX Si Turbo *pics are here*

I am fairly new to the site. I have been on and off of it but just joined. I am in Memphis, TN. I am picking up my first honda on thursday. Its a 1990 CRX Si. I already have a turbo kit waiting on it in the garage. TD04H Ball bearing turbo, front mount, new head with ZEX turbo cam, Skunk2 cam gear.. all the fun stuff. Any feedback of do's and dont's would be awsome. Will get pics up ASAP. Thanks

Just don't skimp out on fuel parts/tuning, they are the most important part of a turbo project.

yeah i have the best advise you will ever get. Do not let your motor see anyboost until you have a tuning plan. An untuned turbo car is the equivalent of kicking yourself in the nuts........ITS POINTLESS.

Some good ideas,

Pump, regulator, injectors, a full engine management system like hondata wouldnt be a bad idea.

Then start thinking about plugs, wires, ignition system boxes such as the XS Engineering amplifier, or an MSD set up.

replace that factory distriubtor cap with an aftermarket one that will accept an external coil

Just some ideas.

P.S. 600 POSTS AND STILL GOING STRONG!!!

Anyone have any ignition systems they like more than another? I know alot of people run MSD but the friend I got the turbo kit from was running MSD on his while it was turbo and didn't like it very well.

Plug and play or is there something that has to be done to make them work? I can get 450's easy.

Why can I only make 5 posts in a 24 hour period? How do I get that changed? I can learn without asking questions

I am using a greddy ball bearing turbo and editing my post to be able to post again or else I have to wait till tomorrow

Shave them down to fit in the grommets in the fuel rail...nothing major, they plug right in.

your honda ignition should be good up until about 350-400 hp. Colder plugs wouldnt hurt though

P28 = B series.

Being as cheap as I am, I'd get your ECU chipped and run turboedit, etc.

No you are wrong. The p28 ecu is d-series. It comes out of a 92-95 si, which have d16z6's.

So go ahead and use the p28 ecu and get it chipped.

It's also an OBD1 ecu. You should get it chipped for crome then. What type of head are you puting on it?

Does the car have the stock a6 in it?

DO NOT use vafc or FMU as a source of "tuning"

do it right the first time or dont do it at all

also, you're getting camshafts and cam gears and stuff, which is pointless unless you lay out your entire mod list, i wouldn't work on the head until i work on the block internally, honda heads are usually good to rev up to 8-9k rpm in stock form easily, but you have to reinforce the block to take the abuse (rods, piston, sleeves, headgasket, etc.)

take your time slowly, do it all correct the first time, also remember the little things you need to get your car running

vacuum lines, oil feed lines, oil "tee", oil return line (DO NOT KINK OR LOOP THIS LINE), bov, intercooler piping, clamps, downpipe, exhaust, colder spark plugs (recommend ngk bkr6e's), boost gauge, oil pressure gauge, water temp, relocated half size radiator, and some other stuff i'm forgetting</TD></TR></TABLE>What a great post well laid out and tons of info

I would agree 100% I just will add OBD1&gt;OBD0. I am so happy with crome, not that I had problems with turbo edit to be fair.

I wouldn't try to take a stock bottom D 8-9K though. machine LS rods and ARP bolts for extra revs and psi

Thanks again everyone for the input. You seem to be a very supportive site with a good group.. not easy to find.

D16A6.. I am going to stick with it. I have liked what I have seen out of it.<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Voodooboy520 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">P28 = B series.

Thats kind of the route I am going.. I could spend all the money to convert stuff and what not but I am not doing this for the Mags. I just want alittle fun. Plenty of people seem to have bad this work well so that is what I intend to do.<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by aallbbeerrtttttt &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">if you're staying obd0, with the d16a6, i suggest you chip your factory ecu with turboedit

</TD></TR></TABLE>

Its not that I am getting it.. I got it on a good deal with the turbo kit. Its a rebuilt head with the zex cam and skunk2 gear. Like I said.. I am not looking to impress everyone with it. I just want it to be alittle quicker. I am already planning to buy another block to start building but in the mean time I am going to turbo this one. If it pops then it pops.. no big deal. I am staying D16a6 with it.

Where do I get the Turboedit done?
