Default Strange water leak, what is causing this

Alright, I know this is a common question and a common problem with our cars, but after some searching I couldn't find anything definitive about this. Here is where it's leaking.

Obviously it's not just a *little* bit of water. I also noticed a little bit of rust on my door sills and whenever it rains it's always wet there. All I found above it is a spot of bare metal.

Could my door possibly be out of alignment? My fender used to pop every time I opened the door too, but the fender was out of alignment too.

do you have the fender lining in the wheel well still? If not, that could be the problem. Thats exactly what my car was doing and the fender lining in the wheel well was the culprit

is it leaking in where the hatch struts mount to the body. if so it could be the rear window squirter of at the very back edge of the drip rail. mine was leaking at both area. it would drip in there and run down onto the floor boards.

to fix the squirter your gonna need to get a new squirter of try and seal it up with some sort of sealant. for the drip rail i pryed up on the rear of the black molding piece and used some needle noise pliers and pull them twords the back of the car. once they are off you can see where the seam sealer is cracked. i used some clear sealant to seal it up agian.

I should have mentioned it's an HF.

No rear wiper
No rear squirter
No moon roof

No fender or fender lining due to an accident (lug nuts not tight enough). The problem is that this happens on the other side as well...although the lining is not complete over there either.

Thing is, when this most recent one happened I hadn't driven the car in the rain or anything.

I did notice that at the bottom of the windshield the little rubber piece that I suppose seals the windshield is detatched at both sides. Could this be it?

Its coming from the door speaker, or the window frame seals.. look inside the door speaker next time it rains.

i had the same problem in my crx..get a new windhsield cowel and all the clips for it..and put silicone gasket on the windshield at the lower part all across where the cowel touches it.. also on the drivers side check out the gasket where the hood cable goes through and exits the cabin..for some reason mine wasnt sitting flush and it would drip through there and pile up on the floor..good luck man accidents suck the big one

i was going to say the same thing, that much water in that location probably has something to do with the windshield.

that bit you have on the door sill is very common. the door itself drains water out the bottom and it collects there.

honda engineering FTW.

So if the water is coming from the speaker or the window frame seals...how do I stop it? I've noticed that my speakers haven't been functioning top notch lately, infact the one on the pass. side won't even work unless I roll the window down.

You need to stock that pond!

You can get plastic covers for the rear of the speakers
called "weather-guards" or even some plastic sheeting would
probably help..

I came up with a good way to temporarily fight the problem until I have time to really address it.

They're called...newspaper floor mats. Too bad I don't have a pic though. They do, however, work extremely well.

You got any rust whatsoever around your windsheild/drain lines on the roof? I got the same problem only a little bit minor, and I'm thinking that's where it's coming from.

Man there are so many different answers/solutions, if you just do'em all you'll surely not take on water!

I've been fighting leaks in my CRX this past week.
Got my sunroof drains cleaned out and I've got them routed into a big as tank, I'd rather the water go there then drip on my CRX...
I've never heard of that Squirter thing, gonna have to check that out.....

people say the squirter, but i think it actually comes through tiny cracks in the rain guides on the sides of the roof. this leads it down to the rear hatch supports where it drips through.

as for the original poster (op), the water on the door sills is fine, there are drain holes in the bottom of the door.

As for the rain inside, thats a real crap shoot. best bet is to get some1 to SOAK the car w/ a hose and you sit in it and look around.

when i first got my car after a rain storm the drivers side would be wet behind the seat. located a drain hose that runs near the dead pedal area that was disconnected, plugged it back in no water since.

My speakers are now totally FUBAR'd, sound like sh*t and not very loud. What really bothers me about this is that I have to let the car sit for basically 3 months. My brother is going to drive it every so often just to keep the gas fresh and from flat spots in the tires. I'll be in USMC boot camp until October so I need to figure this out ASAP.

I've already taken RTV to the roof lines that tend to crack and that solved the hatch shock leak. My tail lights leak now, those just need new gaskets or some RTV.

The car has no rust on the exterior since it's a Texas car, but I fear it's going to start rusting from the inside out if I don't get this taken care of. I'm almost positive it's the windshield seals at the bottom of the windshield. I need a new windshield anyways so I'll have those replaced with the windshield.

I'll be starting a project log thread as soon as I return from boot camp, possibly sooner.
