What is the best all-season tires? Kumho 712 vs Dunlop SP5000
For dry and wet tractions with reasonable cornering speed. Anyone with experience with both of them? (No search archives sucks!)
I've had both and I personally think the Kuhmos are total crap. They were loud and wore much too quickly even for such a soft compund. One of them blew a sidewall after 1 auto-x. Needless to say, I will never purchase them again. The Dunlop's have been great and I have had no problem to date w/ them in the rain. Spend a little more, as you get what you pay for.
I've had Kumho 712's for past 10 months with absolutely no problems. They are best bang-for-the-buck. After ~ 15,000 miles, there are still more than 60% thread left. Excellent wet weather tires.
I don't have any experience with SP5000.
For daily driving, don't spend tons of money on tires... have another set with dry weather tires. Best of both worlds.

I will be buying the SP5000 for this winter. I don't think we get enough snow in the city to warrant a dedicated snow tire. I had the SP5000 on my '96 Teg LS and loved them.
I just bought a set of Falken's for the summer/track days.
No more 712's for me. Decent grip, great rain grip, just hate the noise. I run them at high pressures and previously no noise, but for some reason they are squealing like a pig again.
