keep the v6 sohc vtec or h22 dohc vtec???
i'm thinkin of investin a h22 on my 97 accord v6 and i got couple of question for it first one is it worth da swap? second is how much work is there need to b done?
I've never seen under the hood of a 5th gen V6. I've never heard of a 5th gen V6 to H22 swap either. It's my understanding the engine compartment was reworked quite a bit to cram the V6 in there. Probably the bolt holes for the 4 cyl motor mounts aren't even there. I think it'd be harder to put the H22 in there than the 4 cyl models. Might even require some fabrication. I have no clue. The H22 might bolt right in.
Edit: You've got quite a rare car/motor already. If you get I/H/E and some headwork (port match, polish) and can find some valvetrain parts and high compression pistons for it you'd have some serious power. There's hardly any aftermarket support for that engine and Honda only ever used that engine in 2 models, but still a lot of Honda motor parts are swapable, who knows what other Honda motor pistons, rods, valves, springs, maybe even cranks and camshafts will fit in there.

All right, another 5th v6, we are rare. Like Dave said, (I am David 2) we have plenty of potential power waiting. I have yet to test out that power, I have no mods done for performance. There is a reason for that
I asked Misa this very same ? the other day, and he said what Dave said. Just do some simple bolt on's done. Also available which intersts me is a shift kit from this place. I will post the link up later.

no...dont put a h22a in there...
besides, it would cost you an arm and a leg to do a h22a into a c27a engine bay.
So...just wait, do basic bolt ons, ECU upgrades and you should be ok.

Get ahold of a Legend 5-speed, that would be a good start. When the legend had the 2.7 V6 there was a manual available for it. Im not sure of Legend generations, but it was around 1989.
I've herd that the H22 doesn't bolt in and hell ther both vtec 6 cylinders more displacment=more power no need to change just bolt-on a few things and you should be good to go.

I really dont think it would cost as much as you may think. From looking at it the mounts look similar for the manual and autos between the Legend and the accord. I would look into it.
The 2.7L V6 was not VTEC. Also the H22 is a 4 cylinder not a V6.

Hey CmptchAV6 my mistake on the They are both vtec. Also the line should have read both vtec, and 6 cylinders more displacment=more power I wasn't saying the H22 is a 6 cylinder I know it's not.

i heard you can drop in a J30A1...which might be worth it...if it comes out with a stick
LOOK,
i will debunk all this old wives tale about the v6 5th gens
The fifth gen frame was specifically designed to accept the V6, if you wanted to swap in there an f/h it will fit, but since you have a powerplant that produces more torque and really choked up from the factory why would you want to downgrade motors?

An upgrade to the J series motor should be possible it was in the first gen CL and looking at the 5th gen V6 accord and the 1st gen CL the engine bays look approximatly the same size. I am not 100% sure tho
well first thing is save some gas lol j/k nah i am goin to a auto school rite now and i heard alot of people mentionin about droppin a h22a in there and i check out da euro R and it runs on da h22 block got me thinkin
