the 97 civic is obd2 the 97 B18C1 i pretty sure its obd2 i think it like 92-95 civics are obd1 and 96-00 civics are obd2 so i would think the same applys to the B18C1. but to be sure keep asking.

To get a little more specific, 96-98 is OBD2a and 99-00 is OBD2b
So you answer your question, both are OBD2A

Hey mark, sorry to see the pics of the engine. That was one of the worst blown engines I've seen. I hope your dad helps you pay for the damages, after all, he's the one that did it.
To answer your question, the 96-98 civics are obd2a and the 99-00 civics are obd2b. The 97 JDM ITR ecu that was in the car is wired like obd2a, however, since it is a jdm ecu, it uses obdI programming. That is why you don't have to worry about a second o2 sensor and other little **** that you would have to with a US spec 97 ITR ecu. Hope this helps. Good luck with everything.

To be more specific:
96-98 is OBD2a and 99-00 is OBD2b for Civic's except the 5-spd Hx. The 5-spd Hx stayed OBD2a all the way through 00 (I have a 96-99 ETM...the 96-00 ETM would just include 00 instead of 99 like I have pictured), as can be seen in the Helms ETM.

96-99 is OBD2a and 00-01 is OBD2b for Integra's.
And while 'OBD2' JDM ECU's do plug into OBD2 Civic chassis', they are not like their US OBD2 counterpart, as 97mini-me stated. You will never pass OBD2 emissions with a JDM ECU because it doesn't know how to communicate with an OBD2 scantool, FYI.

Ha! That's not true for PA. That car used to be mine and it passed with that ecu in it. The paper read all NA's, but I still got a sticker printed out. Just goes to show they don't really give a **** about the environment and it's all a money making scheme!!! But you're right, MOST states requiring emisssions you won't pass with that ecu.
